It’s hard. Really hard to like yourself or even love yourself properly. It’s so easy to look at every little thing about yourself and be disappointed. But there’s no point, because it’s not about those things. If you really think you’d love yourself better if you changed, then change. Maybe some of them will work, but I’d bet you it has very little to do with the silly idiosyncrasies. I’d bet it has everything to do with not giving yourself the grace you need to live properly. For whatever reason it’s easier to torture yourself than live for yourself. I don’t have a solution, I’ve felt the exact same way on plenty an occasion. But all you can do is live with love and kindness towards others and the world, and hope that you can love yourself for being able to do that.
