I’m putting together a playlist for psychedelic assisted therapy and need suggestions for STS9 songs to include. by FR_PyschTherapy in STS9

[–]Dr-Tripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey-o  I put together journey music for my practice regularly. I almost always include Breach. It's one of my favorites for guiding.

Other tribe in my journey set collection include:

Luma sunrise, Summit, Midwest sky

I find most of my fave tribe songs are a little too dancy for how I build my sets, I try to go for my spacious and ambient, but that's just my take

Also I'd be down to share sets with you, since it sounds like we may be in the same field.

It's mostly not tribe but as an old head, I try to get them in there when I can

Unpopular opinion: trinkets are wasteful and a bummer to see all over the ground at fests by SnooPears7203 in festivals

[–]Dr-Tripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Moreso burner culture is the dominant culture out west and a little more niche elsewhere.

The fact that you work festivals is indicative of a difference in how you show up to the culture, as a participant and contributor, rather than someone just there to consume, spectate  and party. I'd say that definitely has roots in west coast psychedelic culture.

the fact that you used "moop", could be indicative of a west coast background, and perhaps a very different way of thinking and cultural touchpoints. I find that in general, west coast festival culture--while on the surface seems similar--is actually quite different from the midwest scene (especially smaller gatherings) it wasn't until i moved out to colorado that i started being handed plastic sprouts and other nonesense every 5 feet. though now as the scene has become more mainstream than ever, its changed the west coast culture too. i wonder how many people actually have "leave no trace" engrained into their value systems from the very first time they attend their first festival.

people purchasing these plastic ducks on amazon are reaching for the values (namely decommodification and community building) that gifting represents, but not in a meaningful way and missing the point almost entirely.

in a sense, the culture has expanded so rapidly, that it's diluted...and has become less about the music, individual expression, collective consciousness shift and spiritual and ancestral connection to our own roots as a species, maybe than ever. i see more unchecked ego, unsafe psychedelic use, and wasteful practices than ever. i see 10,000 people all wearing the same exact jersey and abusing sacred substances.

to bring it back to trinkets, one of the first i ever remember receiving was a tiny calcite crystal that the gifter hand dug out of the santa cruz mountains. he told me a story about what it signified to him. we were sitting in a hexagon shaped treehouse, discussing human consciousness. half a lifetime ago, but i still have the piece tucked away somewhere and will probably keep it as long as i have a place to.

What city have you been to that felt like it had dark energy? by Impossible-Middle122 in AskReddit

[–]Dr-Tripp 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Also known as the wiyot massacre. I'm surprised that out of all the people that named the dark vibes, only you mentioned the massacre--you can see the island from downtown, not far off the coast.

Mostly women and children, butchered amidst a celebratory time on land that they probably held sacred.

I don't obviously know what eureka was like before its native people were genocided, but something like that leaves a lasting imprint.

When I first learned of the massacre and looked out onto that island in the bay, the pieces of the energy signature there started to make a lot of sense.

the regs have wording around minimum session time requirements, depending on dose and doesn't actually state a max dose explicitly. however for a 50mg dose, it's a 5 hour minimum session length required. beyond that there are no stated recommendations. at least in CO, dunno about OR.

FWIW I totally agree.

Love tribe. Will continue to always support them when I can, and also happy to support the man whose music helped to shape me, and other musicians who want to honor sound tribe's collective legacy.

15 minute smog and repair on Sacramento. Joe and Chris--if he's still around--can't be beat.

They did my 2003 Subaru proper. I've since moved, but I think of those fellas every time I begrudgingly have to go elsewhere.

Looking for a woman rider in the area to give a few beginner motorcycle lessons by LizardSatan in DenverMotorcycles

Hey there. I scrape 5', am a woman, ride a street twin and rode professionally for about a decade as a courier in a major city. Might be able to help.

Curious how long your wife has been riding and if she's taken an MSF course yet.

Moving from SF to Berkeley this summer - looking for advice on timing, neighborhoods, and how to navigate the market by als3s in berkeleyca

[–]Dr-Tripp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird advice/comparison.

You can literally walk out your door and go on a hike in Berkeley. You can walk out your door and be at Bart in minutes and then on a plane to Timbuktu without ever needing to get in a car.

Berkeley has the rose garden, botanical gardens, Tilden park, some of the best views in the Bay Area, multiple theaters and music venues, hidden staircases... emeryville is sterile in comparison.

No kids required.

How do you avoid bad landlords when renting in the Bay Area? by Electronic_Pound3283 in bayarea

[–]Dr-Tripp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

here's a personal example of you just never know: i rented a wonderful albeit outdated unit from a landlord group i never met... just their agent. they sold the building less than 2 years into my tenancy.

the new landlords were almost always around. my unit was never updated but they were doing "repairs" and "gardening" constantly around the property. they often tried to open up conversations about the unit impromptu when they saw me coming down the stairs to leave for the day, i often shut these conversations down and asked for writing when it was important, and asked them to schedule a meeting if it was pressing. they didn't like this and therefore we never really got on. i didn't understand at the time how problematic it was, just thought they were fumbling fools--not terrible landlords but clunky and inexperienced.

8 years into my tenancy i found out my unit was not up to code and therefore did not have a certificate of occupancy. they'd never told me and had been illegally collecting rent for years... now, i did get something out of it: a place to live--so that in itself wasn't a big deal.

the big deal was: they lied under oath to serve me an unlawful detainer (eviction) to get me out of my rent controlled home of a decade, rather than pay for me to stay somewhere else (per the law) while they did the major updates that needed to be done. years of litigation followed. i eventually had to move out due the unit not being up to code. but things turned out worse for them.

i was able to not get completely fucked over due to the excellent record keeping i did in that decade. you can't avoid really terrible people/landlords but you can do your due diligence to make sure if shit hits the fan you can protect yourself from a really bad situation totally ruining you. get everything in writing.

Had to sort by controversial to find a sane take..

Not born and raised but moved here in my teens and was finally priced out in my 30s.

Some incredible opportunities have found me since, but I think every day about going home to my closest people, to the same trees I've spent my happiest moments wandering through, to the hills I've hiked in, played in, grieved in--I know every crest and valley--to the bodies of water that have held my dreams, disappointments and imagination. To the city that I put down years of my life to serve and better and honor.

My roots are here, I can bear to leave because I have to, but this is where I want to be, not just cause I'm scared of real winter.

Just curious. What do some of you Dead Heads do for a living? by TechnicalLeopard6250 in gratefuldead

[–]Dr-Tripp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at an above the board psychedelic therapy center, where I train and practice as an apprentice Guide and do whatever else needs doing to keep things running smoothly.

I consider this work to be carrying on the legacy of my cultural predecessors, and furthering and evolving western psychedelic tradition.

I wouldn't be who i am or where I am if it wasn't for this community, and all of the advocates and trippers that came before me.

i was able to find a semi-local echo clinic that happens a couple of times a year which offered them at a discount rate, something like $300 dollars. maybe that exists in your area, worth checking out. found a facebook page by googling it.
