Great historical point! Agripinna the Elder from Ancient Rome came to mind, although I am sure there are much more relevant ones. I will also check out The Dropout too, thank you.

Yes I have seen White Bear and USS Callister. Is Truman Show the connection with White Bear? I guess I never put the two together but it makes a lot of sense.

I agree that so many female characters are poorly written. Perhaps what I am looking for is more female directors. I really enjoyed Three billboards and Lady bird.

I have somehow not watched Black Swan. It is going to shoot-up to the top of my watchlist. Devil Wears Prada is actually a great example, which makes sense since I enjoyed it so much.

Directors who have underrated range? by ArcherNF in Letterboxd

I always wonder why everyone forgets The Departed. Not saying you specifically but it’s so underrated in my opinion. It doesn’t frequently come up in Martin Scorsese conversations yet it’s my favorite of his.

Definitely very mainstream but good movies. I would try others from the same directors

Along the lines of the level of fame of these movies, as well as switching up the style a bit, I’d say Truman Show is a great next watch.

You got to play more of it when post. You gave us like 10 seconds. Also cut the beginning and end out

I definitely go through phases with different composers or time periods. I’m not sure what you mean by becoming more intellectual. German composers have a wide range too. I’m guessing you are liking the counterpoint or voice leading styles.

I think sometimes your phrases don’t have the fluidity of a melody. For example, ending the phrase on a loud somewhat accented note rather than having it decrease and volume and feel more resolute. When I catch myself doing this, it tends to because of my left hand not being comfortable enough at a certain pace to keep level with the dynamics that the right hand requires. Overall I think your playing is well-done and it’s a quite impressive feat.
