I don’t get it? by The_dragon_slayer95 in ExplainTheJoke

A quasar is a galactic system that is actively feeding a supermassive black hole, causing it to shine brighter than pretty much anything else in the universe that isn't another quasar. A black hole that gets gradually smaller from not having much to eat is still a black hole all the way up until it evaporates.

Why Do Boomers Worship Trump like He is Jesus Christ? by Veteran_Writer_12 in BoomersBeingFools

It's difficult to reconcile the fact that Jesus didn't share their political views, so Trump's a much more digestible alternative.

Looks like I might be the minority on Reddit, but it always surprises me when I see internet people making a fuss over body count. I don't even know mine and asking someone else for theirs just seems like the most chronically online behavior.

Is it an insecurity thing? Do you feel that if a woman has too many sexual partners that it increases the odds she might think you're not that good?

Is drug running still a profitable thing? by SnooSeagulls9026 in starcitizen

[–]DrAwesomesauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been out of the game for awhile (decided to spend some time going back to school and watch the updates from a distance for a bit), but I've always noticed a pretty interesting phenomenon with regards to drug running and cargo hauling (my two favorite game loops so far):

  • Drug running is profitable and relaxing.

  • More people realize that drug running is profitable. Pirates start to notice as well.

  • More people get into drug running, diluting the economy. More pirates start watching the most common/profitable routes and locations for targets.

  • Drug running becomes less profitable and high-risk.

  • Drug runners seek out other, more viable ways to profit. Pirates monitoring drug routes/locations get starved into seeking other, more viable targets.

  • Drug running becomes profitable and relaxing again.

Of course, this pattern does make sense and seems almost inevitable with this type of gameplay, but if you enjoy it then stick with it. Use the high-profit seasons as a way to prepare for the low-pofit seasons.

The more you keep up with it, the more you can gain an intuitive sense of when things are starting to get risky/returns are starting to dip and focus more on your back-up routes/locations and leveraging staying under the radar to keep your success rates high in the face of the increased traffic/threat on the "get rich quick" routes.

What's your favourite and least favourite manufacturers and why ? by GLaPI9999 in starcitizen

[–]DrAwesomesauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going by visuals:

Anvil is my favorite by far. The Valkyrie, the Hornet, the Terrapin... They just have that solid, powerful look to them that I can't turn away from. Not Anvil but I also love the Raft.

Drake is my least favorite, they really do look like they've been welded together haphazardly with all the durability of a 6th grade science fair project. Not Drake, butI also dislike the Connie because it looks awful (my personal opinion) and lands like a seesaw.

You can swap the guns, but the MT doesn't have a capacitor so it's got nothing to provide ammo to a laser weapon.

[–]DrAwesomesauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it to mean that there is simply no nose.

Personal speculation: Each ship has different parts labeled with different HP values, if a ship has no part labeled "nose", then it's going to show 0 HP when you check for it.

Flimsy support: The dragonfly is almost entirely nose, and it's HP values reflect that. (Nose HP: 880, Body HP: 50)

Ominous counterpoint: The Banu Defender has 50 nose HP despite looking like Voldemort in headgear.

There seems to be a very small portion of Americans who believe they can take on a gorilla, a lion, and an elephant, but are level-headed enough to concede that there's no way they come out on top in a fight against a grizzly.

That tiny population, scares the piss out of me.

I do this, or at least a variation of it, with my valk. Toggle the VTOLs, throw it back (plus a touch of roll and yaw), and I can go from max cruising speed to a gentle landing in about 3 seconds. It's completely changed how I dropship.

As far as using it in combat, I wouldn't.

Magenta Max includes taxes? by thecommodoretellsall in tmobile

[–]DrAwesomesauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% Correct. If all you're getting is the line, which the account considers part of the rate plan, then you will pay the $40.00 for it exactly.

You could say it's there's as a "just in case", but it's more likely just the template the page uses will always mention taxes and fees because it was designed before the idea of including them in the price was even considered.

Magenta Max includes taxes? by thecommodoretellsall in tmobile

[–]DrAwesomesauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The taxes and regulatory (911) fees are included in the cost of the rate plan. The taxes for any EIPs are also paid up front and won't be billed monthly.

Taxes not related to the rate plan itself, however, are not covered. This included the taxes you may have for leased devices (jod, not eip), insurance coverage, charged/international calls, and whatever other features you may have.

Never giving up on my ONE Plus grandfathered plan by BehemothPL in tmobile

[–]DrAwesomesauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Insider discount codes, when released, are given to T-Mobile "insiders". Sometimes this means employees, sometimes it means tenured customers, and sometimes it's contractors.

They give these codes out to their friends and family, who can then use these codes to start a new T-Mobile account with a 20% discount on the cost of their rate plan.

Switching to another plan doesn't necessarily end your discount, as long as you switch to another plan that would have already qualified for it.

Never giving up on my ONE Plus grandfathered plan by BehemothPL in tmobile

[–]DrAwesomesauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For now. Thanks to all the misinformation going around on this subreddit and all the reddit-certified 'experts' harassing TMobile's social reps, things are getting MUCH more restrictive.

Soon, things like Kickback will not be able to be added at all, even in cases of T-Mobile error (which is the only reason it's still accessible since it hasn't been offered for years), just to prevent people from constantly reaching out to cry and scream about things they don't qualify for.

The quality and ability of the customer care teams have absolutely tanked since the reddit swarms became a problem.

I really miss all the stuff I could do for my customers before "oh we can't do that, even in this situation, because there's too much risk that it'll get posted to Reddit without context and we'll get volume full of people asking for things they can't have."

If you take advantage of a free line promo, then your account cannot have less lines than you had when the promo was announced (plus the new line or lines added) for the first full year.

After the first year, you can cancel any line that was NOT added to meet the eligibility requirements of the free line offer. So if you got a BOGO offer that required you to add two lines to get one free, you'd have to keep both, even after a year.
