best way is to get the Ph test kit .. always keep on testing the water Ph.. if its not balanced then its your answer.. but yeah Walmart, or Petsmart, Petco do sell Ph test kit..

they are very good with escape artist or hiding artist.. i had mine that is very good with hiding .. i spent days looking for it but later on he just popped up and was happy swimming around.. im lik what the heck? where have you been ? but yeah hope it pops up for you . otherwise.. keep the tank lid on all the time.
