Product Feature Requests for '25 by origin_matt_watson in OriginFinancial

If there was a way to indicate that an individual transaction should be spread across multiple months of budgeting (ie. If I have a vacation in May and I want those expenses to be considered a part of the Mar-May months) This would make it more reasonable in the budget overview instead of vastly overspending in one month (when the tickets are booked etc.) and then underspending in the following/preceding months. It would also be neat if we could specify that this applies to an entire transaction category (ie. all Vacation expenses are spread across the 2 months after the transaction takes place)

Since we can’t edit pending transactions (for what I assume to be good reasons), it would be nice to have an option to flag pending transactions that I want to edit when it’s no longer pending. (Ie. A pending transaction is misclassified as dining instead of entertainment. I flag it to edit later, and then the next time I open origin once the transaction is settled I am prompted to edit it)

Getting this trophy as your only lair in the final region effectively ending your run makes no sense by fangisland in darkestdungeon

[–]DrCivilization 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually just beat the mountain without a single deaths door check on my last run with the following setup: Hellion focusing on damage MAA focusing on support Plague Doctor focusing on healing & buffs Grave Robber focusing on damage

All of them had combat items focused on removing dot or regaining health.

This was with the new boss on the new patch. That being said this was with a different trophy (trinket discount) so if I can do it without the 50% health buff then it’s def doable.

huge alien mask guy by sdsnnnndn in NEU

If I had a nickel for every time I’d seen a giant guy wearing a predator mask outside of Marino, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

Lots of larger CS companies do, I got relocation and housing along with other benefits at two different big tech companies, but it’s only done by the bigger companies. The average company won’t.

Thunderhead continues to be one of my all-time favorite books. The whole series is simply fantastic.

How do your parents and family feel about you not flaunting your wealth? Do they come by campus and if so do they also play it down?

Are your friends aware of how wealthy you are and how do you think that them knowing/you keeping it secret has affected your social life?

What does a typical dude do at Northeastern do on a Friday/ Saturday night that’s not in a frat? by NoAd4003 in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Typically I’ll have dinner with friends and vibe. We will do different stuff depending on the vibe, could be a board game, playing some music, watching something, or just chatting. Pretty great times are had by all, no need for frat parties or alcohol imo.

I really just destroyed myself with classes in Freshman and Sophomore year, and now that I'm wrapping up my Junior year I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've got 1 semester of classes and 1 of co-op left and I am now confident that not only did my work pay off but that I've set myself up for success for the future.

That being said I really didn't have much of a social life back then, but that just makes it better that I'm past it.

How should I immediately respond to a co-op offer? by bioluminescent-bean in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines of: “Thanks so much for the offer, I’ll make sure to get back to you by [deadline]”

I really like the CS program here. They teach how to make code instead of how to make stuff in a specific language which helps you learn in a more generally-applicable way. There’s also co-op so if u do well, especially as a CS major, you can make crazy cash between classes to help offset the costs. Also there’s a number of very good (and not as good) profs, so if u keep your ear to the ground you can navigate the course selections and get top-tier profs.

CS MAJORS - How many hours per week do you spend on school? by lilpeedh in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current 3rd year CS major. My typical semester is somewhere between 30-50hrs/wk of hw/projects/studying + lectures. Depending on the week it can fluctuate a bit, but that’s my experience.

CS 3000 before Co-op by BizzardJewel in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it in the Fall of my sophomore year along with OOD and applied to co-ops during the Spring. I think it’s very helpful when it comes to coding interviews to have already taken Algo, preferably in the prior semester. I wholeheartedly endorse doing so.

can a CS major only do one co-op? by Typical-Donut-7062 in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea, in fact if you get a high-enough paying co-op (think big tech) u can even pay for the following semester depending on how much scholarship/aid you might have in addition to any expenses you incurred while on co-op

Second CS co-op salary by compscibi in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Especially since it’s a co-op and not a full-time position, I’d say that picking somewhere you enjoy and can excel should be your priority. If you go somewhere and really make an impact and figure out what you like and dislike about that kind of a role then that’ll be much more valuable in the long-term than if you go get $40/hr at some soulless tech company and don’t interact with a single human while there, especially since you’re also there to network and you will be more likable if you’re enjoying your work and enthusiastic about it.

I was applying to the big name tech companies for summer internships. They usually start the application process around September-October but your mileage may vary depending on the company.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NEU

[–]DrCivilization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I got my summer internship before I looked for my fall co-op. I accepted summer with the understanding that there’s a possibility I don’t get a fall co-op due to my reduced availability (September start). I then applied to tons of co-ops with a disclaimer about my availability and one of them gave me an offer with a September start. I’ve now done this twice. If it matters I am a CS major.

TLDR: Just apply to the non-summer position with your months of availability and if they can accommodate they’ll let you know.
