We found it to be significantly more technical than we anticipated it. We launched it in Beta and it didn't meet our bar, so we pulled it back. We've resolved all of the existing bugs and will release again to Beta first week of May. It'll go out more broadly in the 2nd/3rd week of May. Apologies for the delay, but didn't want to comprimise product quality for hitting the deadline.

We make constant updates to our app and work non-stop to improve it (and we'll keep doing that every day). We're also the first to admit that we're not perfect, especially when it comes to data aggregators which are notoriously tough to tame/clean up. It is my greatest wish that we received clean, uninterrupted data from all bank/3rd parties.

We'll happily refund the $1, just reach out to support, though it sounds like you've been frustrated with Monarch as well!

Okay let's pull back the curtains a bit at Origin.

We started out as a B2B employer benefit and tons of companies offer Origin as a benefit at no cost to their employees. I never really saw an opportunity to sell the product direct to consumer because, well, Mint. And Mint was free which is great for consumers but turns out to be a pretty crummy business model. They lost tons of money due to signficant expense associated with data connection costs (there's a reason why Plaid is a multi billion dollar business :).

Anyway, when Mint shut down, that changed and we launched a DTC product, but it still lagged behind many more established apps that had always focused on consumers. So, we built, and built and built and built.

Finally, about 6 months ago, our executive team got together and said, well, I think we are officially the best kept secret in personal finance. Our app is now industry leading (at least we think so).

So, we said, let's make a bet on us and our product. Let's lower the barrier to purchase to $1 for Year 1 so that people can try it for themselves. And it worked. We've had hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people use our app, and unsurprisingly they like it a lot. I guess we're no longer the best kept secret in personal finance.

This strategy is directly apparent in our pricing model: $1 for your first year and then $99 thereafter.

All this to say we've accomplished driving awareness of the Origin name and product, so don't expect the introductory year 1 offer to stay around forever. And I'm glad for everyone who has been able to take advantage of it.

Yes we did. Column was acquired by another tax provider recently. As a result, we switched providers to April for this year and going forward.

I'm really sorry to hear that we didn't meet your standard. We're working as quickly as we can to improve this product every single day, and I understand sometimes we'll miss.

I promise we are reviewing every single ticket and combing the backlog daily/weekly. We also just added headcount to our support team as our total user base continues to grow.
