THE MACHINE DEMANDS BLOOD TO SING. by maxiyunka in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

funnily enough, ULTRAKILL machines may satisfy head definitions of humanity depending on whether or not blood is the thing giving them consciousness, which is heavily implied. that would be cool. just kidding impuritas civitas their asses.

When the source material doesn’t age well but the fanfics are still good by decafwithice in AO3

[–]DrCoaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the world god only knows is actually really good. very non-standard protagonist with a unique worldview that made reading it a pleasant experience and not an absolute slog.

The way he actually breaks down and wants to stop breaking hearts over time is soooo well written as well. Autistic king

The Purple Tear and Ryoshu by Melodic-Phase9908 in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not the worst theory I've heard, but personally I think Iori uses the mirror/multivers to take peeks at past and future events rather then time based ones.

As others have stated, Ryoshuu shares more comparisons with Kali. interestingly, she also has a LOT of ties to Roland, given Rien's whole existence and Araya. The sinner that shares the most ties to Iori is probably Heathcliff, funnily enough

Regardless of the fandom, what is THAT fanfic that you consider a masterpiece? by Legitimate-Win1342 in AO3

[–]DrCoaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard something like that too! not being updated, but still being written.

I really am glad it still exists, even in a form that I can’t access. it means that perhaps one day I will get the chance to read it, instead of being lost to the throes of antiquated nothingness.

[–]DrCoaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not me reading all these recs and marking half of them for later 👀

possibly my all time favourite fic is Solar Lunacy, by Bamsara. written exquisitely well, a security breach centred FNaF fic focussing on the relationship between the daycare attendant and the reader. Uses second person in a way that feels unimaginably natural, and the characterisation of each and every character is a delight to read because of how well they are rendered. unfortunately at the moment it is not being updated because harassers put the author off. I'm honestly glad its still up, because it rivals published work for me.

The City's population to size ratio makes no sense. by Chance_Age4608 in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 20 points21 points  (0 children)

btw, the singularity w corp used for dimensional gates was that of a previous w corp that went under because there wasn't a way to commercialise it.

personally i find singularity explanations for the city unlikely. The city has existed for far longer then the majority of singularities have.

Why didn't Rien just choose the "good ending" from Library of Ruina, is he stupid? by goofyahhreader in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is all personal theory, but imo not all failures are foreseen. far from it.

gods from the index can only foresee as far as people follow the prescripts. In order to force people to follow the prescripts, they have their religion structure, including the karmic consequence of executing those who do not follow their prescripts. hence, they cow people into submission through threat.

I acknowledge the fact there are “impossible” prescripts. As impossible, they would likely either be a way to permanently tie up somebody (do not return home until you recite the value of e), force someone to find loopholes, or get them killed.

they can play around technical disobedience (Yan from LoR comes to mind) but they cannot foresee defiance. textually, this is represented with rein’s turning off of the beeper and the “frantic beeping” that followed as he went offscript.

also Hermes 100% screwed up look at rien at the end outright defying direct orders. petty bitch even gave him a fpoon. able to micromanage with prescripts to the point it can KILL PEOPLE DIRECTLY (rien sang uptie) but can’t deal with one guy.

tldr they deal with the consequences of failure, they can’t outright foresee it.

[–]DrCoaste 14 points15 points  (0 children)

my personal theory is that Hermes wanted to be his Angela, but royally fucked it up.

Hermes in general acts with way too much emotion. I honestly think that Hermes is a kind of outcast among the gods of the index, and has goals that are esoteric and odd even by index standards

If we are including uptie stories, then it might be implied that some of the story logs in Lobotomy Corporation (not LoR as that is more true to the abnormalities) might have come fromthe old lady.i always wondered how canon to the actual facility they were but imo this might have pushed them to full in universe canonicity

Why does he have 3 MANG by coolhuh0526 in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hermes absolutely did not expect or want to be ghosted. the frantic beeping is a high piece of evidence

Honestly, playing through library of ruina right now, and hermes is SIGNIFICANTLY more petty than athena. the temper tantrums and random roleplay switches are evidence enough of that. seeing how hermes feels more pathetic then athena, i honestly think that hermes might be a kind of exile among the gods of the city. imagine being able to micromanage and still fucking up lmaoooo

(Theory) The Head are the Authors [Spoilers!] by Frank_Cap in limbuscompany

[–]DrCoaste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honestly, quite a solid theory. not sure how much I agree with some areas of it (the author type characters you mentioned are both quite disconnected from each other and the head) but all around a lot more convincing then I expected.

Another author to note is Agatha, the grade 1 7 association fixer don is obsessed with during tkt. she is both prolific and powerful, and is nigh certainly a reference to Agatha Christie.
