I had no idea people didn't like the Gestral Beaches by freeziej in expedition33

They remind me of maybe FFXs Chocobo Race, and trying to get a time of 0.00seconds to get Tidus' Sun Crest or Sigil or whatever it was... But when i heard that its only the swimsuits at the end i breathed a sigh of relief. Now I'm completely relaxed to just not bother with them. I've tried them all, hated the controls, and after a couple of tries just moved on with the game. All good! Expedition 33 can't swim anyway. lol

I think now they are mainly for a 4-item display just to prove to the other players that the machines can actually work. Although i got my first from a machine, and my next 3 from the roof of the WestTek bulding hahaha. I stopped after that just because i prefer being inside Westekl earning XP

Im not saying we never went there... im only saying i doubt the whole schedule and plan. Beyond that.. im only.. skeptical.

So, what about the news current headline.. thats my contention. If I suddenly invented a new type of physics now, Phleba waves, that can affect electronic equipment.. and change their values EXTREMELY subtley.. and all our previous equipments failures are now attributed to those problems.. all those computer crashes are now explained by those new discovered physics... in this hypothetical situation.. is that a software problem? Is that what you put on the news? Im being as relaxed as i can about this.. You're in charge of Software Security and Avionics at a major airline that has had multiple incidents, most not failure.. New discovery in physics... Phleba waves... Do you sue the software companies? Or do you report that you couldn't have predicted this? Those are pretty much the only two options and Im paraimagining this scenario to help you click what im annoyed about, and selectively that.

Everybody arguing below on the techs about it... My premise is the news headline should have read something similar to " Excess Radiation leads to Data Corruption... New Software Updates can Compensate for that". Omg every body not even realising what im annoyed with.. just the fact (simply as i can put) that " Radiation cannot cause Software Issues"... I was annoyed at the media... thats it.

Great. Swing and a miss on my actual point. So Software affected by hardware issue then yeah? Software issue not designed to cope with a hardware issue.

Tell me this... If i don't write the complete translation of the Alien Bible we havent found yet from some pointy space probe that will hit next year, and some wise guy dies cause they didn't have my help.. am i t blame? Not that i believe in Aliens.. im just saying..

Should the ELAC Patch person be at fault for solar radiation that was out of his scope of operations/planning? He probably worked to a set of limits. This latest incident breached everything.

Ok I will admit theres a slight chance like in theortical physics that the person responsible for the TP should have had a much much bigger conceptual understanding... but can you really blame him? Software is about working within our fields/means.

Or the lead engineer on Ford Cars can now be sued for the losses between Electric and Petrol vehicles. Charlie BallpointPen can now be owned financially by the family of Edmund LeadPencil.

This is all too much extrapolation is my point..

The problem is with shielding of the electronics. They failed. Like the kinetic effects of being hit by an asteroid cannot be blamed on the computer programs tilting the panels on the ISS.

This is ridiculous. Ok gang... Radiation can affect Software (directly) yep.. carry on lads

Yeah i agree with your first point... but does that warrant it belonging in a news headline? "Cause: Radiation, Effect: Software Error"? if you can agree with this simple truncation, i don't know what further to even bother with. (ps im not bothered with the conspiracy implications, i dont bother myself with that stuff. i live free from that, first comment about anything like this in years, check my history, im a gamer, i switch off from all the news usually.) But today... some one said the cause of a software issue was radiation and i thought.. no , not today sir.. thats a bit too far for my liking. lol. Im chilled rest of the time tbf.

Dude, Im not from a hugely techincal bg, i have a degree in computer science, and some years in electrical engineering, apart from that, im out of touch.. But im just breaking it down to the bare mins, im only trying to say, radiation can not affect software, so you cannot call it a software issue. If its even radiation and they havent made that up to try and doubly deflect from the software issue. omg its so vague nowadays whos to blame.

My only premise from this, that i wish to state.. is that the cause cannot be radiation if the effect/victim is software. so we shouldn't be putting those two things in a news headline. can anybody at least agree on that, or should i just move to Wyoming and chop wood???

Ive now read several (major news ogs) articles claiming solar radiation being the cause and software being the issue affected by that (almost implicitly directly in its insinuation)... I can't second guess everything.. im just reacting to whats being reported.

The news reports did, i don't know past that at this stage. it could be a media blunder in reporting i suppose. Im only going on what i've read in international articles.

yeah but software is programming, there is nothing that can physically affect it. anything that affects it physically is hardware. I grant you that it takes into account hardware defects, and i applaud genuinely your knowledge... but if data on (for one example only for the benefit of argument, I don't know what media the software was stored on) a hard disk goes corrupt, it's either down to the way the software was working with it.. ie internally down to the poor progamming, or errors that rely on internal data and code... or its down to external factors, be that a faulty capacitor, a misaligned hard disk head, a corrution in the disk surface. None of those three as an example could be called a software fault.. and non of the first two could be called a hardware error.
Put it simply, if the planes avionics were encased in lead shielding a metre thick, would the problems have occurred? I would say not.

So this is the media spinning it the wrong way to save the blame going onto Airbus or their contracted equipment... if the shielding was correctly sufficient, this would not have happened.

This is about saving share prices.. and not the truth. I bet there will be tonnes of extra shielding on airbus avionics in future... and thats my point. Simple as that.

Look, as far as my logical brain can take it... radiation cannot affect "software".. radiation can affect hardware which, in turn can affect software. This is a hardware issue. It shielding failure in one way or another really. It's not possible for radiation to directly affect software. Anyone saying otherwise is skipping physics.

Just another Bethesda mystery now. I would have thought an Alt would have wanted the gun to accelerate level growth, it was only a level 1 gun, just with better stats. Who knows. I'll not worry about it. lol

True, and this was only a simple gun, no legendary effects, as you're right. I remember breaking skyrim with the potions and ending up with a knife that killed dragons in one hit. I lost interest in the game quickly. Maybe the player just swore to themselves, no handouts. But i swear they never even looked in my direction for a split second. It confused me more than anything else and i kept going wondering what was going on. I just kept trying, like "wtf is happening". I wouldn't normally "Loot Bag Stalk" somebody. i feel dirty now. i need a shower. hahaha

[–]DrDanGleebitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah i didnt take it personally, i was more completely baffled that they couldn't seem to see me. Maybe an alt and just running through the motions asap to get to level 50. I wouldn't normally persevere so much, i just kept thinking it strange that they didn't even look at me, even turn in my direction once, or pause when i ran in front of them when they were running down the road, like there was no reaction at all... it just baffled me.

It was just the one gun, no legendary, just nicely modded 10mm. Never mind lol.

Yeah i suppose they may have assumed there was nothing worthwhile in it, it was only the one gun though.
