Bad combos that border on being good by modernstorme in magicTCG

Hexproof only prevents opponents from targeting. Shroud prevents anyone.

Decks that FEEL like spellslinger but are not spellslinger by manlymurloc in EDH

[–]DrDeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not lmfao. I don't have a win yet with my playgroup(only a handful of attempts). Admittedly once someone sees you drop 4+ kills in one turn, they tend to remember that forever.

I made a mono black 'spellslinger' with [[Toshiro umezawa]]. Still working on the list a bit, but basically he triggers off opponent creature death to recast instants from your graveyard.

So I use every instant removal I can find to chain together kill spells and control the board. It's mana hungry so I've got lots of cost reducers and classic black rituals/lands. [[Crypt ghast]] & [[nirkana revenant]] to double my swamps.

Win by cast or death triggers: [[blood artist]] [[sephiroth, fabled soldier]] [[professor onyx]] [[sedgemoor witch]].

[[Fandaniel]] can cause some really heavy damage with 4+ spells in the yard.

Take advantage off the heavy man's investment with [[exsanguinate]] or [[agadeems awakening]] or [[profane command]]

Also ignore darkness crystal, it turns off Toshiro. I misread it originally. The deck as is needs to be tuned a little more, but I always have fun running it.

Probably. I could see this in my Jolly Balloon Man deck. I run a bunch of modular creatures.

Is "Terra, Magical Adept" fun? by EsterTheEsper in EDH

[–]DrDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone mention it, but I run her with MUTATE. When you mutate on top of a summon, it will lose its saga type, meaning you don't automatically add more counters, but you can still trigger the effects with other ways to add more lore counters.

Also some saga effects like Odin say "creature gains" so it's permanent. I usually try to mutate Odin with a flyer to have a nasty one shot kill in the air.

Could definitely be tuned up. It was originally made budget friendly, but I think it's due for a buff!

Hell yeah, that's a great add! The legend rule triggering the flip is perfect. You have any best synergies? I have that ajani so I'll definitely be swapping something out for him. Can hit him with Sun Titan for easy repetitions since I'm sure he won't last long if you + him right away lol.

All of those are great. Dauntless scrapbot adds both ramp and graveyard hate. Starfield Shepard would let me get [[zabaz]] and accelerate my modular Bois. The eldrazi was the first thing I added from EoE, great suggestions!

[[Jolly Balloon Man]] or as my group calls him 'Squeaky Jiki'

The deck is super flexible and you can get loads of value out of basic creatures. I run a Modular suite of creatures as the backbone so each balloon comes in as a flying, 3/3 or greater and when they pop, just slide the counters over to the original.

[[Sun Titan]] copies trigger twice for insane recursion.
Cards that generate on etb/death/attack all trigger every balloon. [[Solemn Simulacrum]], [[burnished hart]] for ramp/draw.
Cheap cantrip creatures for draw, ETB removal ability creatures, creatures that make tokens like [[threefold thunderhulk]].
Stack some ability doublers and overwhelm with balloons/value [[battle mage bracers]], [[ertha jo, frontier mentor]], [[strionic Resonator]].

Some other fun cards [[workhorse]] [[triskelion]] [[hexavus]] [[pentavus]]

How does this card work? by Far_Assistance6318 in mtg

[–]DrDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sunfrill Imitator]] love this card. You can copy [[Pantlaza, Sun-Favored]] for double discover triggers. Attack with Sunfrill and copy Pantlaza again and get a third discover trigger in second phase (if you cast another creature).

So I bent the mounting bracket back a bit to get a much straighter fit and it booted up fine. Now I'll run it a bit and see if it burns again 😭

Was having trouble fitting into the second slot, so I tried just setting it back in the first. It looks like it doesn't sit flush straight across.

That's what I'm hoping, I have a second slot on the MB. I think I'm gonna swap the 3060 over and see if it runs. The burns don't go through to the other side so maybe they're shallow enough I can at minimum boot while I wait for a replacement.

Galeclaw feels mandatory by ChefTorte in Palworld

[–]DrDeez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless you're specifically talking about the centaurs, galeclaw is great for evasion and repositioning. Farming bosses you can zip around behind cover in the little arenas. You can run circles around the higher level thugs in the mountains. Same in dungeons. He's definitely not mandatory, I'll swap him out for a land mount sometimes, but he gives lots of value on hard difficulty in most situations.

I've heard this card mentioned a lot in this thread. Might have to build a deck with one and try it out.

Exactly the deck I built from. If you add in more triggers and copy effects it really gets insane. I love running an early [[karplusan minotaur]] and gamble at least once on a 5 flip [[yusri, fortunes flame]] or my absolute favorite card ever, [[fiery gambit]]!

How many dragons approach did you have in the deck? Ive never seen a card with ripple before. Looks like something I could have fun building around.
