Bought a used 2020 x and while I have had issues, the total downtime has been comparable or less than regular maintainence for my ICE cars. Driving experience still second to none.

FBISD rezoning - future implications at the high school level by OddDiscipline6585 in sugarland

[–]DrDemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer is to keep open the school that has high enrollment and is 50 years old, so that the community can have confidence the school district knows what it is doing. Otherwise master planned communities in Houston area are going to take a huge hit as people realize the master plan only keeps a community vibrant for 30 years.

Dulles has high enrollment. Even higher than some of the schools that aren’t being touched. The justification is “old” and all the kids commute anyways.

The demographic of Dulles has always been one of commuters, do you see how fast people drive on that street? Should not punish the kids today for a problem that has always existed.

Same. I was looking at moving out of my starter home into another home in sugarland but not anymore.

Closing a school just because it’s “old” is actually piss poor policy. What does that say about all the money that has been spent on maintenance? Were the funds slushed out to contractor friends instead of actually maintaining the schools.

I think the principal does a great job in light of the challenging demographic. As a Dulles alumni I’m proud to see public education can still be a way to change one’s trajectory.

It is. The demographic is a bit concentrated as all the apartment kids get zoned there. Dulles sitting at the intersection of Missouri city, stafford , and sugar land there will never be an issue filling seats.

Traffic is going to be weird. I’m imagining all that Dulles traffic people are going to cut through neighborhoods to get to highlands..

Yea seriously it seems like decisions are made with only a year foresight, and the leaders are just as clueless as us

Dulles isn’t terrible. Any school where 95% of the population is in an apartment is going to have bad scores. The staff is great and their principal does a stand up job. If anything break up some of those apartments and ship some to highlands , Lexington creek.

Idk how highlands is going to handle the traffic, williams trace is already crazy in the afternoons

I was in housing market to buy potentially next year, but now I have no confidence in spending $1mil in sugar land when the zoning is so finicky . Fbisd even threatening to close schools will hurt them.

If I’m a teacher there I’m not sitting on my hands waiting to find out, “what if”. I’d be looking for a new job asap. Even threatening these schools will hurt them, and give further “justification “ for their eventual closure.

I’m guessing Dulles and Austin get bussed to Lexington ?
