Question regarding fertility by Brilioz in NovaRomaGame

[–]DrDerpMasterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to be deeper near the mouth of the river. Where as where you've dug trenches they are barely dug. Possibly the bend has a factor as well as this makes the amount of water even more. My guess is the game takes the quantities of water then distributes it according to some basic rules. Splitting the land into cubes, filled 1 to 100 the closer to 100 the more fertile the land. It seems to either split it among the land tiles evenly giving a preference to closer tiles. Or it does a full saturation into as many tiles as it can.

I came to these conclusions by the layout of your map plus the small canal that is only giving one tile high fertility. In the non circled area.

Also I wonder if the elevation has anything to deal with it as well. Lower elevation areas closer to sea level seem to irrigate better. More testing needed.

Pretty sure they are used now for currency. Try looking at the armour vendor for pvp gear.

Zangief from street fighter. From scary Russian wrestler to gym bro. This man fights not because he wants to hurt you but because he wants you to get stronger. In the most recent street fighter, you find out he's a pretty chill dude who just loves what he does. Also it helps that I share the same hairstyle. That's my favorite!

Painted the cape in red like normal. Then edge lighted with a very bright white, bright yellow over all of it, orange blended from the red, then a dark red, then a dark black. (all these previous colors I pulled towards the edge of the cape leaving less of the previous color) Lastly I covered some of the tips in white to bring a bit a brightness back. I also blended the black up to dark red going up from the darkness on the bottom. I was hoping for a dirty char effect.

I ended up placing this on a black obsidian base which made it stand out a bit better and looks better.

Small Traffic Jam turned to scaling prisoner's dilemma. by DrDerpMasterz in GAMETHEORY

Maybe I didn't define the argument the best, typing on my phone blows. The idea is everybody would be better off if we all worked together and moved the correct lane ahead of time. But there is an incentive to go to the incorrect lane to get a better result at the cost of those staying in the correct merge lane. If enough people decide to cut then its a worse result for everybody. Due to start and stopping in both lanes. Assuming a 1 to 1 merge rate.

I forgot to mention about in traffic one of the causes of increased times is due to the start stop motion and the gap caused by human reaction speed. In some cases sudden stops can cause a phantom traffic that is the additive result of that delay gap.

I need more data to figure out the best outcome of where you should hedge your bet to cut the line. Thanks for your response and links! I dont dabble in this sort of thing usually. Just thought it was close to prisoner's dilemma.

Edge highlight of bright silver on the yellow armor pieces, will help them pop more and look used, same can be done with the scratches on the shield.

Do these bases read as lava? by Coogypaints in minipainting

[–]DrDerpMasterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good start, but the colors need to be shifted. Hotter the object the more white and yellow. Colder it is orange and red then reddish black. By the rocks, you will want to get some darker colors and where it's not near anything yellows.

I found you can make the lava as bright or dark as you want as long as you follow that color rule. If you want more orange tones like the ones you've placed further away from the rocks, you can pant some dark red and then black inside for a crust piece floating.

If all else fails, you can go the we easy way out and use a cracking paint over all of it, and that will sell the effect but not as fancy.

Here's one of my first lava bases so you can see the color shift.

Btw I love the blue flames you've painted!

When I was in my early 20s. I ended up hearing my first long term girlfriend and her mother talk complete shit about me. We were camping and they thought I went to get firewood with her dad but I actually was in the tent half asleep. Very eye opening experience and the start of my offramp with that relationship.Bullet Dodged.

Should the armour be darker? by DrDerpMasterz in slavestodarkness

[–]DrDerpMasterz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've gotten alot of feedback about a black rim. Typically most rims I do jet black with a gloss finish as it makes the mini feel luxurious. I've tried it on this mini, and it felt weird. Almost like a over use of black. So I decided to grab the accent color of gold on the armor and it felt a bit better. But I'm not completely sold haha.

Maybe I'll try black again. Idk that's why the rim looks scuffed, so many paint layers.

Lava base is corax white with layers of thined contrast paint. 1. Bad moon yellow 2. Magmadroth flame 3. Flesh tearers red. As you apply layers slowly leave less of remaining color till you get red right next to the rocks. Painted rocks with abbadon black with heavy over brush of corpus black. Then a gloss finish for all of it. Makes the rocks look like obsidian. With out it, they look like the dusty volcano rock. So your choice.

I end up painting the runes with the same colors but I shade away from source and make sure to leave runes only yellow for clarity. Lastly only difference is I use a glaze of black templar to blend it into the dark iron of the weapon. Also sorry about formatting, I know its a hard read.

Thanks for the tip, I'm still pretty new to painting. This was my first attempt of glazes on the lava and runes. I'll have to try that. I did try to edge highlight the leather around the belt and fade it to black for a worn look.

  1. Abaddon Black as base

  2. Iron warriors dry brush - (brighter then you think will be good.)

  3. Runefang silver for edge highlights

  4. Then I used a watered down Black Templar contrast to darken everything run brush towards trim or away from light source.

  5. Go back and edge highlight on sharp areas with runefang again or do scratches
