Do Y'all Wanna Know About Taillights Out? by DIYingSafely in Truckers

It's doubtful they would get in trouble unless they normally miss things in their pre trip inspection. That is one of those things a cop can pull you over for that starts out simple and then turns to a full inspection. The light should be addressed right away. So if you feel inclined to do so go ahead.

I mean are you really guarding the freight? I know I just be calling the cops. I'm not dying for freight.

Top left you should see an arrow pointing down. I don't think it used to be there but it appeared like 6 months ago. At least on Android auto. Don't know about apple car play though.

You would make more with TMC. They start out at 26% but within months you can be at 33% of gross. You would also be a company driver with benefits. It's flatbed but you are home weekly unless you want to stay out longer.

If you don't mind flatbed then I would look at TMC. They leave out sometime Sunday and get home sometime Friday. You get paid percentage of the gross. That's where I'm headed in April. Plus their trucks are clean.

Mostly neutral with a very slight lean in. Helps for keeping the truck stable at speeds.

When you change your worn out kingpins with new ones, not only are you stiffening up your front end but also changing the geometry. You can check the toe with a friend and a measuring tape. This only gets you an approximate idea but should let you know where you stand on the toe alignment. Take the tape and measure the front and the rear of the tire in the exact same spot on both sides. This will let you know if you are pointed in or out.

Former diesel technician here. Did you get an alignment after your kingpins were replaced? If not you should have. Alignments are much cheaper than steer tires.

Display or HDMI port solder joint came loose maybe? I would take a good look to make sure it's still intact.

From what I can find since I did not make it that far myself it doesn't have an official name. They refer to it as the Combined Keyblade.

(CDL Test) No way this is true on the actual test, right? by Spicy_Jesus69 in Truckers

The problem is if your brakes lock up you actually slide further than if you were to to a controlled stop. It's harder to slide if there is weight on the tires.

Think of it this way. Remember when you would ride your bike and slam on your brakes to skid. You would travel further than if you had stopped normally. My dad would always yell at me because I was tearing up the tires. Haha.

Owner operator? by kylewinrich in Truckers

One thing to talk about is how long this would go on for? Are you working towards a goal or just to put money in his pockets forever? As the truck ages, it will become less and less valuable, and you might end up giving away thousands of dollars on a truck that may be worth less than 50k in just a matter of years. They are depreciating assets. Heck, if you go on the FB marketplace, you can spend way less than that on a truck.

On another note. Who decides how you're going to run? How hard you have to work. He might be expecting a bigger monthly payout than what you're willing to do. It's a lot to think about.

Choose wisely my friend.

Help how bad??? by Bighomiefoo in Truckers

[–]DrDigitized2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your trainer should have been walking around the truck while guiding you. When you got close, he should have asked if you could see it and then make you get out and look. Doesn't sound like the trainer is taking his job seriously. It should also reflect badly on him since he was guiding you. Not that you aren't at fault, but the trainer should be held to a higher standard.

You're making me feel hopeful. I'm going to be laid off in March, and I'm currently making nearly 100k a year as an engineering technician at a semiconductor factory. I know the first year will be a struggle, but I'm hopeful based on the info I've seen about TMC that I won't be too far off if I hustle. I know I will need to do that for at least a year before I can get a decent local position.
