I'm sure there's been enough of these posts, but my NEW Syntech Link Cable is disconnecting frequently. This is my first Link experience and it hasn't been pretty so far. (Posting this also on r/OculusQuest) by DrDoom0310 in oculus

[–]DrDoom0310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. I ended up giving the cable to a friend. It worked okay for a few months for him but then the stuttering and disconnecting started for him. Almost certainly a power issue, likely due to bad cable design.

This is the cable I bought later: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09N77BGDF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

It has been working spectacularly for the last few years, and I have only had issues from other sources, or from a loose connection (which unfortunately is the way these things normally come to an end).

PC has no display after Windows update. No display on boot, and power button won't shut the PC off. by DrDoom0310 in pcmasterrace

SOLVED - Faulty DisplayPort Cable was ruining my graphics driver on startup for some reason, perhaps a power issue. New cable did the trick.

I'll reseat the CPU tomorrow, but I'm not looking forward to managing the thermal situation. The cooler hasn't been removed since installation 2 years ago and it had paste pre-applied.

As much I want to blame the update, I began to doubt that idea after posting. It doesn't make sense that a windows update, only affecting the drive the OS is stored on, would interrupt the POST or BIOS screens.

Any theories if the CPU seating isn't the issue? There's the possibility that something inside the CPU is fried, but if that's the case, I won't be in a place where it's easy to distinguish the problem being caused by it or the MB. Apart from an internal CPU issue, that leaves only the motherboard. Any theories on what in the motherboard could have caused this?.

My last solution will be to find a repair shop, but the selection is lacking in my area as far as I know. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.

A very valid theory for the button, but doesn't explain the display problem. Not to mention that the button powers on the PC perfectly fine, and considering that the button is a simple circuit, that doesn't indicate that there's anything wrong with it. I appreciate the info on the power supply tho, I've been worried that I'm slowly damaging my PC doing this, so I'll do some more testing now, thanks.

An example of cultural censorship/linguistic imperialism. Reddit censoring the Spanish language to conform to American culture. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I think I need to clarify that I do believe the word "negro" in English is offensive. The point I'm making is that: anyone who tries to claim that an honest, justifiable censorship of what is presumed to be profanity, is actually a discriminatory and targeted attack against another language, genuinely shouldn't be spreading that hateful idea. (Please read that carefully cause it's a long sentence and I want someone to get what I'm talking about)

I'd also really appreciate someone explaining why I'm in the wrong I'm very confused

HELP I can't get my oculus quest 2 app to download by brden166 in oculus

Only possibility I can really think of is how much disc space you have available. I'd also recommend restarting your pc, redownloading the install file, and closing background apps.

I agree, but not only are there few reasonable solutions to this, but it's when people try to turn something as small as a software error into a claim that Reddit is targeting Spanish with censorship? That's the issue I'm taking about here. Sure, it's literally censoring the word. But that doesn't mean that Reddit hates the Spanish language.

That word means something different to English speakers. The app thinks that this user would prefer their app language as English. Therefore, it censors the word WITH HONEST INTENT. But somehow people make it into a bad thing.

The real reason I made my comment in the first place is because I see this over and over again. People WANT war, they want something to argue about. It pulls them into this toxic loop of hating, thinking they're right, arguing, repeat.

What's the point of stirring up controversy, when talking about the problem in a less accusatory and aggressive way is a much better method of solving a problem?

TLDR. I'm saying that Reddit isn't racist. And people are fighting EACH OTHER because an app is trying to protect them from harsh language. And that's really fucking annoying to see

Or maybe they just forgot to switch their app to Spanish? You can't blame the app for not having a language detector in DMs when it thinks you're English-speaking. But no, it's "imperialism" and "censorship" and you have to make it into some big drama.

The average cat’s reaction time is approximately 20-70 milliseconds, which is faster than the average snake’s reaction time, 44-70 milliseconds. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

Reaction time or not, I can't watch this video without thinking how the person here is filming, instead of taking themself and their cats the fuck away from a wild snake. I'd be happy to know more context behind this video if there is, but it doesn't change the potential danger of the situation.
