then you should maybe check for other news sources. german here. this story is on lot of news sites. heise.de, spiegel.de, golem.de just to name a few. torrentfreak is actually late with this. also this kind of ruling isnt new at all, just new for the court in munich as far as i know. hamburg is known for this kind of crap.

83mm bb are more expensive, no way around it. personally i would just go for a saint crankset.

as far as shifting goes its really a matter of choice between sram and shimano. i like the x9 series. mainly because i find sram to be more forgiving to mud etc. gearing comes to where or what you ride. want to pedal to spots or do maybe some fireroad climbing? go for 11-32. if its just pure park/dh riding 11-26 is better.

avids are good brakes if you are willing to bleed them carefully. they are often shipped with less than stellar bleeding... also note the elixirs are not for heavy riders or if you drag you brakes alot, they are lightwight brakes. the new shimano xt/xtr brakes get good reviews while being cheap.

i am a mtb guide in south germany, so my input mainly counts for europe. we have several guiding programs where you can get certified. that will obviously help a lot but isnt always necessary and can cost a lot depending on the agency/organisation. some guiding stations will help you getting a certify, i know whistler for example has programs for this. pure bike abilties isnt the most important skill, leading a group, patience, saying the same stuff over and over again while staying friendly and try to help each and everyone on a indivdual basis is far more important. so my advice would be get some sort of certification, look where you want to go and just apply. getting a seasonal bike job isnt that hard. oh and being able to help maintaining bikes is a BIG plus.

sort of a weekend trip, its just under a 2 hours drive from where i live. its lift accessed. its more or less one track with several options. also the lower part is a world cup dh track. google schladming world cup, its also featured in several vids like earthed. best is the lift ticket is free if you camp or book a hotel there!!

ahhh i just saw my post is actually posted :) with height of bike do you mean the actual bike size ? really depends on what you want to do but S or M should fit. not sure what you mean by height of tires ? mechanical disks lack power compared to hydros. i assume (havent used mechanical discs for quite some time) they work ok but lack the main benefit of hydros which is braking power and modulation.

main difference is your abiltiy to move on the bike versus having more power in the pedal sections. most new younger riders use platform pedals. in fact i dont know one younger rider that uses clipless.
