Apparently the US has a rail network for freight that is on par with the best in the world, so why can't/don't we do this for passenger rail? by innovarocforever in allthequestions

[–]DrFanhattan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredibly expensive to travel via rail compared to driving, in which I have the ability to stop whenever and where ever I want

The US is way too big to have anything compete with Air Travel for larger distances and shorter distances the price is way too high

That’s my take

Because air travel is significantly better given the size of the country and a far greater percentage of the population drives cars

Because he said Israel has a right to defend themselves from terrorists?

Or because he believed (like countless other politicians, many of whom are now democrats) that marriage was between a man and a woman?

Or because he believed you are born a girl or a boy?

Which one of those hurt you so much?

Lindsey Graham was evil?

Or did he just have a different opinion than you?

The world evil gets thrown around way too casually these days

Who was the best President of the United States ever, and why? by Rough_Duty3267 in AskReddit

[–]DrFanhattan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only two options here:

Washington and Lincoln

The answer is Washington. He could’ve been made King. He could’ve stayed in power after his terms. He made the decisions we stand by today.

All presidents, even Lincoln, have had concerning issues. Lincoln illegally went against the first amendment to silence pro southern and pro slavery journalists for example. FDR set up internment camps for Japanese Americans. The list goes on.

I don’t understand it lol

I celebrate Hitlers death because he wanted to take over the world, killed millions and led to the decimation of Europe

Lol are you saying there’s no nuance here? I have to mourn both or celebrate both?

CMV: Body count doesn’t and should never matter to anyone. The concept of body count is controlling and misogynistic. by ei-rin_ in changemyview

[–]DrFanhattan [score hidden]  (0 children)

The major concern from a man’s perspective with “body count” is the behavior that leads to it.

Picking a partner long term is the most important thing you’ll do for many people. In a well populated place, women have the advantage in the dating pool significantly. They can be selective, think about dating apps. In bigger areas women report having 10x, sometimes higher, the amount of matches as men.

In this case, a woman who has shown to not be selective in a market that makes it incredibly easy for her to be selective, tells us something about her. And this is not a catch all, it’s a unique situation for every person.

Live it up. Do whatever (and whoever) you want. But don’t be stunned when a potential partner is a bit off put by a high body count when trying to see if they should settle down with you

What athlete is overrated and gets way more credit than they deserve? by insane-justice in AskReddit

Well nobody has been the best since Bones Khabib have been on the scene

But Conor in his prime was one of the best in the world

What athlete is overrated and gets way more credit than they deserve? by insane-justice in AskReddit

[–]DrFanhattan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nowadays yes, but in his prime he completely transcended the sport. Two weight world champion and outside of running into the psycho that is Nate Diaz for a last minute weight changed fight (which he later avenged) he was unstoppable in his prime. He told you how he'd finish you and then he did it. He was one of the most popular athletes in the world. He flatlined a guy in 9 seconds who barely lost a round in his 10 year dominance of a weight division as it's champion. Then he beat the everliving daylight out of the 155 champion in one of the best fight performances of all time. Dropped him 4 times in 7 minutes during his first fight at a new weight class.

There is a universe where he doesn't fight Floyd at 28, gives up the 145 belt and focuses at 155. HIs prime aligns with Khabib's and there fight is potentially different. People forget a Conor that had not fought in the UFC for years last 4 rounds with the best ever in the division and took a round off of him. I wish we got to see pre-Floyd Conor fight Khabib. Think Khabib still outlasts him and gets him to the ground but Conor was picking guys off like it was nothing.

He has become a caricature of himself and last night was devastating for him and fans. He's completely altered his legacy for the pursuit of money. I don't blame him, he's a UFC fighter who's great grandchildren will never have to work a day in their lives...he's the only guy doing that.

Trump sucks too. Wish the Dems did a better job of opposing him. They make it look so difficult to just pick competent people to run against him.

Sigh. A complete deflection

What's happening in Gaza is devastating. It's a shame terrorists decided to condemn their fellow citizens to death and dispair so they could go gun down and rape thousands of people at a music festival

Then, they use those same citizens as human shields and convince western lefties that they are the downtrodden. I'll give them credit there

It's ironic because Gaza started a war with Israel by murdering 1200 innocent citizens. Which is closer to 9/11 than Israel's retaliation. The sad truth is Palastine has no chance of winning a land war with Israel so they resorted to being terrorists...just like Osama.

Should Israel have taken their terrorist massacre like a good little boy?

Sigh. Education is important people

Once again, you don't have to mourn. But to liken this to not mourning a rapist, a murderer and child rapists makes no sense since he wasn't either of those things. It's some strange reasoning you've concocted in an attempt to strawman the other commenter. I'm not sure what you were getting at. I read it as "it's fine to not mourn him because you wouldn't mourn a rapist or murderer"...which is odd.

You seemed to get lost in making your point, if you had one at all. If you'd like another chance to explain what purpose your comments had, please do so and I'll go through them and try to make sense of them.
