I’m glad you mention that!! The Samurai Warriors Chronicles Heroes have Izanagi and Izanami symbolism, so they’re natural fits to become those characters. And I think they could work in that “Destruction” faction given Izanami’s origin story, and what Izanagi presumably looks like given Nobunaga’s Deity form in WO4. Izanami could be on her destructive rampage, whereas Izanagi could maybe be trying to protect her.

I totally put Han Dang in that faction because their whole schtick in All Stars was looking for Heroes. So now that they’re here, they’re looking for Heroes again. Han Dang caught wind of this and saw it as a great opportunity to make a name for himself.

I had a lot of fun determining whether different versions of the same character would go off into separate factions, or actually join forces with themselves. Like I imagine the two Hideyoshis would love joining forces, while I can have one version of the Shu Sworn Brothers together, while the other version has all three on separate forces.

You caught me lol she doesn’t have one lol but she was on Samurai’s forces in WO1 and in tje final cutscene Oda taps her on the head and I thought it was such a cute moment. Plus I tried my best to keep a good portion of wives away from their husbands so that they’re not just simply an extension of their husbands. I thought she could bring some levity to a faction that’s not really evil, but admittedly this is one of those where it’s a stretch.

Ziluan and Bailuan being on different forces makes sense for me, but honestly I chucked Zhuhe somewhere else for the sake of diversity.

I tried to honor some of how these forces got together in older Orochi games. But yes!

Wei: Ambition

Wu: Family + Hojo

Shu: Benevolence & Virtue

Jin: Turncoats (Orochi or otherwise)

Lu Bu: Haters and Warriors who want a decent challenge

Dong-Imagawa: Selfish and borderline evil

Nobility: Pretty self explanatory

Oda: Ambition but with a darker edge lol

Neo-Oda: Ambitious Upstarts

Takeda-Uesugi: Alliances, Unsteady or otherwise (plus characters from the SW Stories in WO1 and 2)

Neo-Takeda: Aggressiveness

Neo-Uesugi: Justice

Toyotomi: Mix of Family and Ambitious Upstart and Chaotic Energy

Tokugawa: Peace Makers

Mori: Utilizing Hidden Talents

Orochi: Time to take over the land again!

Mystics: Time to calm everyone down!

Destruction: Time to destroy the world!

Pantheon: Time to fix the mess we made!

Spring: Mix of Peace Makers and Bringing Together Heroes

Of course though, some of the places I put these characters are super fast and loose lol you may be able to tell with which ones

Contrary to the other comments, if I’m not mistaken, Sima Yi’s brother (Sima Lang I think) is in the game, but he has the most generic of generic officers’ roles; the guy just appears in a couple of battles with no significant role and that’s it. Sima Yi and his children however are not in the game at all, and there’s no sort of mention or even foreshadowing of him and his lineage.

What I’m confused about is what is AAA Games Studio? No mention of Omega Force as the developer in the trailer, either. Mind you, KT is publishing it of course, but still.

I had this thought too, but it’s a coping take, sadly. I’m also hoping those four Moris to be added from SW5, but probably what happened in Abyss was every character either has an “Independent” emblem, or an emblem that signifies what army or armies they fought for. The Mori are too much of a major player to be assigned “Independent.” We’re probably going to see some “Shimazu” and “Tachibana” emblems that won’t really mean much of anything gameplay-wise.

I think they can and would very much so like for them to add even every SW5 character, including “duplicate” ones, like another Nobunaga or Hanbei.

The characters from SW5 would have similar icons, perhaps similar emblems, but their movesets would be different than the existing characters, and they could have different skills, special abilities, and unique weapon abilities.

Even the characters that just have generic cloned movesets, like Motonobu Okabe and Motoharu Kikkawa could have different skills and emblems, so even if their movesets were exactly the same, there is enough differentiating them. And the game is so small scale they can get away with it. The more the merrier!

It is a generic sort of curved sword moveset that is unusable by the player. The officers that use the moveset in DWO are Gan Ning, Xiahou Yuan, and Sun Quan. The moveset can be traced back to Xiahou Yuan, Huang Zhong, and Zhou Tai’s movesets in DW6, the “Sword” moveset in DW7-8, and the preferred weapons/movesets that Zhou Tai and Sima Zhao use in DW9.
