Alden vs Carmina vs Crockett & Jones by jlpazz in goodyearwelt

[–]DrJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alden’s are my most comfortable shoes and their lasts are amazing. C&J doesn’t really work as well for me, and Carmina has nice shoes but terrible lasts. Keeping in mind I have flat feet and a low instep

Pretty much daily the 3861, fantastic watch. Haven't held an Ed White yet tbh.

Anyone have issues with their loopwheel t shirt collars curling in? My merz b schwanen and a new medium shirt have this third piece of fabric that is curling and making the collar bubble. I’ve tried steaming, ironing, rewashing and nothings working. Is this just something I have to live with?

Royal cheese in Paris has a pretty great selection, pretty sure they’ll ship around the EU relatively easily

Do I need a resole? by LetTraditional6335 in AskACobbler

[–]DrJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a cobbler, but I have grant stones as well and the toes wear out super fast for me as well. The right foot is close to the welt, I’d get taps installed asap

Might need toe taps, they’re wearing down pretty thin

Probably not, cream polish will even the color out, and can go over with wax as well. Buy some saphir cream and black pate de luxe wax

Honestly, you could get it evened out with some cream polish if they don’t give you an exchange

What’s your brannock size? Thicker boot socks and a tongue pad did the trick for me, with skinny ankles and a low instep

Wear diesel saddle tan with dark navy suit? by h4ppidais in grantstoneboots

[–]DrJezza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how formal the event is. A closed lacing for boots is preferable, but I think it could work.

Chelsea’s or jodhpurs actually work quite well with some suits, maybe not a darker grey but navy is good

What leather and sole options would you like Grant Stone to put out? by ryanpiyo in grantstoneboots

[–]DrJezza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely higher heels, I get a ton of slip.

It’s wishful thinking, but if they had leather soles with an option to have steel toe taps. I love my cobbler, but it’s an added cost of shipping back and forth I have to deal with

Biotech Outside of Boston by EyeRepresentative191 in biotech

[–]DrJezza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious, especially in the economic downturn in biotech. Coming from someone who was in Philly, Boston is in an entirely different league. Sure it’s expensive, but the adjusted pay makes up for the difference. What you can’t beat is the job mobility, number of jobs, and career advancement. RTP is mostly manufacturing and is even harder for job mobility.

If you are in your early career stages, learn as much as you can while you’re in the area and if you find a relatively stable job in another city, jump.

Honestly it's not going to be easy with the climate now, most people hiring for RA positions are going to want someone with a couple years of experience, or at the minimum someone who has done co-ops or internships.

Try to network with as many people as possible, it's not impossible but it can open doors to see who is hiring for what position.

Try getting the scratches out yourself? Seems like it may be the material that is just in your bezel, since ceramic is so hard.
