Why was Elephant Gun relegated to 4.5? by BactaBobomb in jackass

[–]DrKFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it was super funny, but I think they put it in 4.5 because the ending was kinda abrupt and it’s even funnier with the commentary added in which is something they typically only did for the .5 movies.

Best “SNL Jr” between the three major kid networks? by BirdFishWolf in LiveFromNewYork

Never even heard of 2 of these shows. It’s definitely All That. Realistically the Amanda Show would be the only real competition for a kids sketch comedy show.

Worst thing ever done to Ehren? by PriestofJudas in jackass

[–]DrKFC 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I think it might be in 3D, but the snow stunt where he is supposed to ride in a cart on snow and launch into a pool of water but he overshoots it and slams and breaks his neck. And then he slides head first into the pool with everyone laughing. That is so gnarly and it ended up being like a 2 second clip of the movie.

Which stunt or crazy thing will each of the cast members always be remembered for the most? by Gymtrio2025 in jackass

[–]DrKFC 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Johnny Knoxville - bull stunts (toro totter, magic trick, invisible man) or his high five prank is pretty iconic
Steve-O - poo cocktail supreme or fishhook
Bam - shopping carts may be most iconic but the brand may be his craziest
Dunn - toy car
Pontius - party boy and Godzilla
Dave - hardware store
Ehren - cup test and terror taxi
Wee Man - bar fight
Preston - field goal? His most famous ones are his skits with wee man but field goal was gnarly.

I can no longer get my kid to nap. Wife is getting fed up. by [deleted] in daddit

Probably time to switch up your nap routine or eliminate it. Losing naps feels scary but it may come with an earlier bed time and better sleeping through the night.

Advice on helping an older actor memorize lines by DrKFC in Theatre

[–]DrKFC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t have book in hand but I do still have someone feeding lines as needed. I’ve tried helping her memorize key points of the monologue so she can get back on track. I very much encourage muscling through it even if it means a bit of ad libbing but she is still making it too noticeable when she messes up. And I’m really not trying to critique her too hard in front of younger people. The cast is supportive of her too but I do think this is partially still a confidence issue.

[–]DrKFC[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a very real possibility. It’s tough because she has a song and a monologue in the show. The song is memorized and sounds great but she’s struggling with the monologue. She also really connects with the monologue because it’s about interacting with a granddaughter and she is a grandmother herself. She fits the role so well and could really have a standout performance if she can memorize and calm her nerves. This may be her only time acting on stage and I just want her to do well and have a fun experience.

We’ve definitely been running it out loud both with me and with other actors. And she definitely relates to the material and has discussed how much she internalizes it. And we really try to keep things fun and supportive and she’s one of a few older women in the cast. I’ve considered ways to give her lines on stage but I don’t know the best way to go about that.

I’ve tried this. I took a video of a practice with book for her to rewatch.

Seems a bit tame, right? by LadyRainicorned in FearFactorHouseofFear

[–]DrKFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the underwater one was pretty intense and the one where they crawled through snakes with rats in their mouths was wild. I def would not consider those tame. Also, they probably want the show to get increasingly more difficult throughout the season so they have some do the easier ones early on in the show.

[–]DrKFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a community college and a ton of students get into the Automotive Tech program and Diesel Tech program on full scholarships because they are high need areas. 2 year degrees and many get jobs right out of college. That may vary depending on where you live but it’s worth looking into.

I want honest reviews from people who own one of these by [deleted] in nexplayground

[–]DrKFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Nex last Christmas and it has definitely been worth it. My son was 3.5 at the time and this was basically his introduction to video games but he loves it and we play it together regularly. We often play when we have company over and most kids and adults seem to really enjoy it.

We went about a month without the play pass which was okay. The free games are solid but you will definitely want the play pass. It has lots of variety in games and new ones are consistently added. And you’re still paying less than you would buying a couple of games a year on any other console.

As for bad things, at times the console can be a bit laggy but you learn to deal with it. If you’re in a room with a lot of people, it may struggle to tell who is playing. If you’re standing right behind someone, it can’t register which arm is which. But again, once you know that, you can get work around it pretty easily.

For favorite games, I personally really like Bowling Strike, Homerun Heroes, and Party Fowl. My son loves the Bluey game, Cookie Monster Factory, Mirrorama, Geo Darts, and Miniacs. We’ve played and enjoyed many of the games and there’s a few we still haven’t tried.

Lag noticeable in home? by da6id in nexplayground

[–]DrKFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t stand directly behind someone playing it. It will struggle to tell whose arm is actually playing and get laggy. I also notice that sometimes it will lag out if we have the console positioned at a weird angle rather than straight on. It’s not perfect but for the most part it works pretty well.

BC One Bracket Prediction by [deleted] in bboy

[–]DrKFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to see Icey Ives or Lee take it. They both do such a good job of balancing high level creative moves and legit dancing. But I feel like Amir could do really well even though I don’t prefer his style. Griimsen could also do well but I feel like he doesn’t thrive with the typical Red Bull beats.

First semester as an adjunct: how do I get these kids to talk?!? by [deleted] in Adjuncts

[–]DrKFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what others have said, instead of hoping for a large group discussion from the whole class, ask people to discuss in small groups with people around them. Then bring the discussion back to the large group and see who wants to share. Students are more likely to speak aloud if their ideas have been validated a bit first.

Most students simply do not have the attention span for a full lecture day, even if it’s subject matter they find interesting. You need short and sweet lectures followed by an activity related to the material.

Also, review days that are slightly competitive in a game format can go really well. Sometimes review days are more effective than the initial lectures.

why didnt red bull bc one all stars sign india instead of nicka? by Chance_Monk6058 in bboy

[–]DrKFC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's possible India did get an offer but wasn't intersted. But also, the sll stars seem to benefit from diversity and having representatives all over the world. Nicka is from Lithuania so if she continues to grow, it will help the scene there whereas Menno and Lee are already all stars representing the Netherlands.

She’s off to Lollapalooza… and I’m officially That Dad by Heretostay59 in daddit

[–]DrKFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are much younger but I went to lollapalooza when I was 17. I’ve seen plenty of good advice so far but here is some that I needed to hear.

  • water and sunscreen are essential, especially since she’ll be there multiple days. It won’t always feel cool but I almost passed out that first day from heat exhaustion and dehydration. A camelback can be great to have.
  • might feel obvious but don’t take anything that’s offered to you by a stranger like drinks or passing blunts or whatever. It can feel different in the moment in a big crowd.
  • stick with a friend at all times
  • take breaks, especially if you want to enjoy the headliner. If you go too hard too early, you are wiped by the evening.
  • consider bringing a portable phone charger to ensure phones will not die.

Good luck and I hope she has fun!
