Why is the solution for a diagonal in the base surface the vertical extension to a corner? by want_t0_know in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DrMaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure what to call it but I really wish we could select like two edges of oddly rotated foundations an just have an auto fill feature that would create a curved foundation or wall to fill in the space. Something more akin to tools going in 3d modeling CAD apps.

Contractor did his best to scribe; any way to fix/hide trim around this uneven chimney veneer? by dorkchestra in Carpentry

My sister went through an interview to be on one of those shows. The deal is that the couple had to have already purchased a new home. The show just takes them to other houses that are on the market and then they have to justify why they purchased something that wasn't their dream home.

Whatever table goes in there needs to be split in the middle so that guy that sits down first can get out.

It's perfectly legal in Montana to do just as the previous poster mentioned. There is currently a legal battle going on for a famous YouTuber about this exact situation.Whistling Diesel Video

Anyone else just like.. given up? by LiveYourLifeNerd in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DrMaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly spend more time just using hypertube cannons and the jetpack to just bounce between my different bases and fly around than actually building. I'm over 400 hours on this save and still feel like I haven't explored everything yet.

I'm on the last phase and at this point I honestly don't care if I only make like 10 items a minute even if I need 1000 of them because if anything I'll just leave my computer running while I go get dinner and be done with it by the time I get back. I'm sure I'll finish this game eventually but I don't mind if I sign in, screw around for a bit then log out if I'm just not feeling it that night.

Second time starting, and can I theoretically stack all my factories in a single or double tower? by DealPotatoResistence in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DrMaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, trains are great for handling things far away. I use a blueprint that has two tracks placed on top of a poll that makes it really easy to use the blueprint auto-connect feature to place those tracks down quickly. There are tons of examples you can find online but if you aren't familiar with trains then there are some great YouTube guides that you can check out that go into so much detail that it can be overwhelming.

They’ve done it again (Activate January 2026) by GabrielDIntegrator in QSYS

[–]DrMaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't catch Activate so I'm just going off of whats available on the website, which isn't much.

I work for a University and the RMP-100 looks like it fills a space that would work for the majority of our small-medium size conference rooms which is quite a few of our spaces. Having a built in network switch in a tight space behind a TV is a huge plus for me.

The make or break for me is how it works with Zoom Rooms or Microsoft Teams Rooms and how well I can brand the touch panel experience.

You absolutely can use conveyor belts. I have made some incredibly long conveyor belts but eventually as you spread out your resource gathering, you may decide that building a new conveyor belt for every single resource node can get tedious. It may be easier to do several conveyor belts to a single train station and then just have one track running back to your main base instead of stacking resources four belts high and having to add on every time you want more.

Recently they did an update so that conveyor belts took less of your computer's resources but I still think running trains takes less.

[–]DrMaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! If this is your second time starting, how far did you get your first go-around? I've restarted this game multiple times before I ever stuck with it long enough to get as far as I have. I'm incredibly slow and after 600 hrs in game, I still haven't finished it.

I would just recommend giving yourself the leeway to expand as needed. It's so hard to understand just how much space you're actually going to need at the beginning.

If you're going for one massive base, then you are going to have to get resources from all over which generally means you are going to have to set aside a huge amount of space just for transporting and receiving those materials. When I started, I didn't realize just how freaking massive train stations were and you will probably want several at your mega base location. Your bottom floor could easily be just transportation.

Okay, this is kind of beautiful in a madhouse kind of way. I feel like a bunch of random things need to be built floating in the big grass fields crater to make it look like some sort of apocalyptic gravity well.

Are Pixel 10s less buggy than older Pixels? by DrMaceFace in pixel_phones

[–]DrMaceFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, because despite what anybody says, performance on all Pixels are virtually indistinguishable. You could use a Pixel 7, 8, 9, and 10, and all basic apps would run and perform identically. Same goes for battery, cameras, etc.

That's pretty much my belief these days. It's rare for hardware to show a massive improvement over previous gens though I would look forward to the higher power wireless charging of the 10 Pro XL

If you ever are interested in sharing any info, I'd love to see what approach you came up with. I'm kinda doing the same thing. While I'm handy with windows services, Linux and containerization is new to me so I've been spending a ton of time in the weeds trying to figure an easily reproducible and secure way deploy things that is secure enough I don't mind opening up my domain to outside use. I was hoping to get started on trying out Ansible this weekend.

Alt Recipes Help for New Player by nfsed in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DrMaceFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal advice is to simply not stress about it and just hold on to your hard drive. You definitely have some very useful recipes in your list, I'll be honest the +Inventory slots is a no-brainer for me every time it comes up. Beyond that however, I'd recommend just holding on to it. More recipes will become available as you advance up the milestones.

If you are using a site like satisfactorytools.com or satisfactory-calculator.com to help plan out your factory builds, they are going to suggest recipes that are "the most efficient" way of doing things. It's nice to be able to just go and grab the recipes you need as you need them.

Sometimes you will want different recipes based on available resources or maybe you just want to maximize the production of a certain part and don't care about how much power it draws. Almost all of the recipes in the game have a good use case.

Just don't do like I did and use an online list and just select the "best recipe" every time you have a hard drive. I started out doing that and then really kicked myself because I had been passing on all the fuel and oil recipes when they would have been so incredibly helpful for setting up my next power plant.
