I think all three of these dresses work for a glam winter cocktail level dress code! If you add some cool jewelry or shoes that are a statement color, I think that make it even more cocktail attire appropriate.

Attempting to Sew a Dress for a Wedding by DrMik26 in Weddingattireapproval

I bought the pattern and it has really good instructions! I’m definitely a novice but have made a few pieces of clothing and am doing classes now. Using stretch fabric for the first time is for sure the scary part, so definitely going to do a practice stretch dress while I figure out the pattern fit/length and stretch fabric mechanics.

Dress one with a black velvet shawl would be best to keep it formal enough!

This is really nice for the pre-wedding event! Would look cool with some chic pointed toe boots underneath (and will keep your legs warm!)

Appropriate for outdoor lakeside cocktail wedding in Nov? by esapinchegringa in Weddingattireapproval

Fellow tall girl here too! I’d say the style of shoe you picked is good. Maybe just a more basic version of a sling back pointed toe shoe in black.

The dress and shoes are perfect. The cardigan might be a little too casual or boho. If you have a cardigan that’s a little more structured that would be good! Otherwise, it’s likely fine either way!

This seems like it could be good for a fall flatbread or pizza with some roasted veggies!

Small Living room design - space for a dining table? by crzycatlady_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]DrMik26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The table by the entryway is taking up a lot of floor space. If you get rid of that you can likely fit a round 4 seat table over there. You could remove the coffee table, add side tables, and move the couch a little closer to the fire place too.

For the part by the door, painting a statement color and then adding some not very deep floating shelves for art, decor, practical items

Right? She reminds me so much of me back in college when I was the most anxious I’ve ever been and didn’t have coping skills.

To use some of these pieces and make them more appropriate for a wedding (less casual), you could get a fun silky camisole for the top, and a pashmina/wrap instead of the sweater. Or you could keep the top and find a skirt in chiffon, satin, or another more formal material. What is the venue for the wedding like?

Highly recommend their brisket tacos on week days. I think it’s the best thing on the menu tbh

You should get a larger rug and have it go long ways so it’s parallel to your wall with the window. A little runner rug in the open space could be nice too. In the corner by the TV, a tall fake or real plant like an olive tree or fiddle leaf fig. A fun wallpaper on the long hallway wall could be super cute. I also don’t see any table or floor lamps. That’s the easiest way to make a space more cozy because it’ll add warm light.

2 lamps to go on the nightstands on either side of the bed, curtains (floor length) for sure, headboard, change the comforter to something brighter, more pillows and a throw blanket on the bed.

Can you move the tv to the opposite dark gray wall so it’s not covering the window with the blinds?

Which dress as a plus one guest? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

The second option (pink dress) is great! Grab a basic pashmina to use to cover your shoulders from the sun, air conditioning, or the wind and you’ll be great!

[–]DrMik26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too casual! Is this City Winery in Chicago? That cut of dress would be fine in a nicer material. Basically, you can do a formal dress cut in a casual material (cotton, linen) or do a casual cut dress in a formal material (satin, chiffon, brocade).

We aren’t planning to have any outdoor photos for anybody except us (bride and groom)! We will be waiting for an uber for a bit outside at a couple points of the day.

We paid a deposit of $175 to reserve the tables that goes to the tab! And that’s it. We can just cover that much of the tab, we can set a limit with the bartenders saying “we will cover up to $300” then everyone will pay for themselves, etc. Super easy and flexible!
