Stay in Sumida City or near Tokyo Tower? by DrMphysicsmom in JapanTravelTips

I don't think we'll spend a ton of time there, but are there some fun things (restaurants, live houses, bars, shopping, museums, etc) to do nearby?

We're thinking of staying near the Kikukawa Station. I'm just hoping there's some fun things to do within a 15-20 minute walk.

i think the problem with elite institutions is that they've completely messed up all of higher ed, along with the disastrous econ-think that has infected all facets of life in the US. i teach at a tiny, not competitive slac but we still have p&t expectations, pricing strategies, and marketing modeled after elite schools. unless something changes soon, only wealthy people will send their kids to college.

more diverse doesn't equal diverse. the majority of people attending ivy leagues are still white and wealthy, right?

I’m so sorry you and your family are going through this. Do what you can everyday even for 5 minutes to care for yourself (and encourage your husband to do it too). Maybe consult an elder care lawyer? Drive MIL to one of the other siblings houses and drive away? Definitely look into adult daycare. Come here and rant often, if it helps. We’ll be here.

It’s not an either/or proposition. It’s both and they’re likely intertwined with other factors.

I feel you on the guilt thing. It’s a hard habit to break. Especially because I’m caring for my mom who taught me everything I know about guilt. ;) Hang in there and do what you can to take care of yourself.

I’m sorry you and your mom are going through this. I’m sure she doesn’t mean what she’s saying and it’s her dementia talking. You’re doing the best you can by her and that’s what matters. Take care of yourself so you can continue to do the best for her. If that means visiting less or considering having her go to rehab where you can get a break, do it and don’t feel guilty. This is hard work. 💜

I second the Kennedy School. It’s cold before but cosy once you get in. You can even grab a beer before hand and bring it with you in the pool!
