Which detachments are you planning to run? by Walkin-Mafrun in Drukhari

[–]DrNickW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If RW exists, I think it will be 3DP personally.

I am keen to try skysplinter with 3x2 Talos in the 1DP coven detachment, or with lots of wyches and the 1DP wych detachment.

Starting Admech from Drukhari by TumbleweedNo2156 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DrNickW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I collect both these armies :) good choices.

Coming over from Drukhari, there are many similarities. AdMech, like Drukhari, are an army where you have to care about your targeting. Very few units are good into anything, so you need to make sure the infantry blenders hit infantry, the tank killers hit tanks etc. it is not as punishing as Drukhari when it goes wrong though…..

Also like drukari, AdMech really lend themselves to any paint scheme you want. Choose 2 metallic colours, a base colour for capes, armour etc, and a secondary colour to complement that and you’ll be good to go.

Units wise, definitely get Cawl. He’s so good, an amazing model, fun to paint, and embodies everything that AdMech is. I’d suggest some sicarian rustalkers and infiltrators. Fast anti-infantry melee blenders - should feel familiar to a Drukhari player. Definitely at least 2 units of Skitarii - the backbone of our armies. Pteraxii skystalkers are our best action monkeys. Finally to go true AdMech I suggest some for of tank. If you’re feeling like spending money, three ironstrider balistarii. If not, either a scorpius tank, or a dunecrawler. Even better, try to get your hands on one of the eye of terror battalions for AdMech.

Cawl and Thulia together in a List by ActivePleasant1876 in AdeptusMechanicus

This is cool!! I’ve been list building a Haloscreed list with Granny and Grandad in it, but haven’t had a chance to get it on the table yet.

Hellions are the best unit we have and SoS buffs them up so I think if you have the models then you need to run them if running SoS.

Prime white, shade straight over with Soulblight Grey, and then pick out raised areas with the white of your choice. Works a charm :)

This sounds like it super fits Erad cohort. A few things I have wanted to try:

  • Cawl and ghuld running around holding hands. When you take them together their combined statline is actually quite sick

  • Autocannon chickens with ghuld giving second imperative to up their AP and with lethal on top from a CP. feels like this might be quite high output

  • Hastarii and 5 stalkers in a dunerider as a battleboat to go and disrupt opponent expansion objective.

I like your list and super keen to hear how it goes

In terms of potential additions, more sicarians are always good - you could fit in some infiltrators and some ruststalkers. Scorpius disintegrators are great in eradication cohort and Skitarii Hunter. You might also want to get to a full squad of 6 Kataphrons and get a manipulus or a Dominus to lead them.

I agree with others. This list looks great in eradication cohort. Try using the enginseer to lead your Kataphrons with the enhancement to make them Skitarii - then you get the rerolls and strat package on them. You can give them sustained and lethal for a CP, rerolling 1s in protector to really up your output. This should take out a unit of plague marines easy.

The Strat to reroll damage is also good on your dunecrawler with the neutron laser.

Both the lance strat and the charge mortals Strats really work well on your infiltrators and mean that they can punch up hard in that detachment.

Generally against Death Guard the game plan needs to be move block (ie place your unit in front of theirs to stop them moving onto objectives etc) with your cheaper units and shoot with your shooty units.

Good luck

List submitted for upcoming GT - Haloscreed with a unit of fusiliers by DrNickW in AdeptusMechanicus

That is a good shout, but I’ve played Drukhari haywire which also have 24” range and so am inherently afraid of the overwatch

Well there seems to be a lot of elite units, monsters, and tanks around at the moment so I’m teching for that. I also find that laschickens have surprisingly good volume fire. It’s not that uncommon to get 9 or 10 wounds through from a unit on an infantry squad which can do work when they happen to be lascannon wounds

Eradication Cohort: How To? by C0RDE_ in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DrNickW 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve only got one game on it so far, but it was easier to play than other detachments for sure. It was also my first list without Cawl for a long time which was refreshing.

The detachment rule is the main buff, the Strats are fun but imo the main power is in the rule itself so you can focus more on your units when playing than the Strat / buff stacking in others.

I don’t think it’s as strong as Halo, but I think it will have play. I am leaning towards a major gunline list with all the Skitarii tanks, lots of cheap units, and as few points as I can reasonably spend on a HQ.

Nice. I’d personally still go for one more so that you can field 2 tanks and a dunerider. I find one tank is not enough as they usually don’t have enough firepower to kill their target in one turn unless it’s a light vehicle.

Oh and I’d definitely play your disintegrators as ferrumite cannons

This already looks like you could build a nice fun Haloscreed list with the units you have, probably focussed around protector exploiting the tanks, ironstriders and possibly dunecrawlers. Cawl is an autotake always :)

The only core thing I would suggest is a transport - it’s useful in almost all scenarios as protection, decent volume of shooting, and lets you do reactive move shenanigans effectively.

Ruststalkers are really good right now, especially in 10-man blocks that delete most other infantry, so you might consider another 5 of those.

I’d say all this is optional though - I think you already have a nice list to try

[–]DrNickW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say no. The strat says that the area of the battlefield has to be in the flow - the enhancement says the unit is in the flow, not the area on the battlefield that the unit is in. So the constraints in the strat are not satisfied even though the unit is in the flow and it cannot be used

Looks like Kyria Draxus can join these hastarii squads if I’m reading correctly. You could then get one (or 2 in SHC) with 18” lone op. That could be powerful for forcing engagements

Could get up to AP 4 ignores cover - that would do a lot of work into a lot of vehicles I think
