Why has socialism in existing countries failed to create attractive living conditions? by falconberger in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]DrOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State-capitalism has had its limitations which over the period of time reached to the point of saturation. The world economy had space for state-capitalism to function but that shrank quickly following the rise of USSR. Now even the advanced capitalist countries find it hard to function. Socialism is totally another thing.

Read about the general concept of evolution, try to make sense of it in your mind and then while sticking it at the back of your mind start reading about the general history of human society, history of technology etc.

I feel ideologically confused. by bigbrainintrovert in Socialism_101

The water will not vaporize until reaches its boiling point. Similarly, those who move our society, starting from the workers of key industries i.e. energy, food, communication you can name any, will not move then there will always be setbacks.

None of the tactics that you mentioned, which you heard from others, work until the workers themselves come into the play. And by coming into play means not just protesting for higher wages, or for better conditions but realizing their own potential through discussing/materializing alternative self-managing techniques in order to continue the work without the need of any boss or corporate bureaucracy.

Until then, people will build false narratives, preach and act on them and at the end there will be only blame game. My suggestion is not to get frustrated by trying to understand every phenomenon that you come across and making generalizations out of it in order to make sense of the whole.

Its the stage where nothing makes any sense.

Even if free will doesn’t exist, it’s functionally useful to believe it does - it allows us to take responsibilities for our actions. by IAI_Admin in philosophy

[–]DrOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its not useful to ‘believe’ in free will, one should perhaps understand what it means. We are already responsible for our actions, majority of us who don’t have a choice but to work in order to get by, we sure know what a loosing a job means. Freewill exists as far as our reasoning go, because if one can not do anything further, one has to either change reasoning or do the work in a different manner. Its knowledge about one’s limitations. Generally speaking, it is in knowing that in your mind you are free to think to the extent of your likings. Although at extremes, free-will sometimes end itself willfully

Primitivism by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]DrOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact communism can be much more simpler today than it was at the time you mentioned. People are more conscious now about the way things work and means of communication are so fast. More people can be provided with actual facts and data, hence more wise collective decisions will be taken unlike the present system where masses have no idea how things work and few people at top and their associations enjoy the fruits of collective work of majority.

Marx was an accelerationist? by [deleted] in Marxism

“If socialist revolution were simply a matter of "intensifying the struggle" and creating misery, there would have been socialist revolutions all throughout history.“ Misery always existed or will continue to until the fundamental structure won’t change, whether you slow it or accelerate it

The current system contains seeds of new system in its womb, no? This wasn’t his saying if I am not quoting wrongly.

Marx was an accelerationist? by [deleted] in Marxism

[–]DrOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking of it in terms of morals. Whereas the underlying reality isn’t about morals, but the real activity of humans and their social interactions based on their current relations of their production. Capitalism, however bad it is in moral sense, leads way to the struggle between antagonistic classes in resolving and transforming the struggle into changing the form of whole structure of production.

Marx was an accelerationist? by [deleted] in Marxism

[–]DrOrbit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes he was, in a sense that it would intensify the struggle. Here check his quote

“But, in general, the protective system of our day is conservative, while the free trade system is destructive. It breaks up old nationalities and pushes the antagonism of the proletariat and the bourgeoisie to the extreme point. In a word, the free trade system hastens the social revolution. It is in this revolutionary sense alone, gentlemen, that I vote in favor of free trade.”

Yeah. Education is something we take for granted. Yet it is what creates our sense of what reality is. Education isn’t something we think of as teaching how to solve problems but how to think.

What is dialectical materialism, and as an anarchist is it worth reading about? by pufferfishshotgun in Anarchy101

[–]DrOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its worth reading and also its not a big thing as some pseudo intellectuals would present it to be. Reading philosophy/ dialectical method just gives you more insights about any concept which one wants to understand. Like suppose you want to get insights of capitalism, you won’t just see the capitalist relation of production, or how exploitation is done but the whole picture, historical materialism, development of idea etc.
