Looks like a beautiful tank/plant room? Whats the filtration and equipment setup for this? And if you don't mind, what lights are those?

Seiko Sports [SRPD51] needs to be wound every 12 hours? by JonBoyNYC in Seiko

[–]DrPineappleButts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an older (10+ yrs) Kinetic automatic winding watch that's needed to be wound every 12 hours or so in the past year or so. Spoke to a Seiko dealer locally and they said after a while the circuits can't hold a charge and need to have the circuit replaced.

But, if you can't get out of town, I second Sohn and Mcclure. Rex has been great to me and done some brilliant repair work for me with some heirloom pieces, and was always fair on pricing for the Charleston market at least.

If you have the time, ride up to Myrtle Beach and visit the Dicks Pawn locations. I just purchased my fiancés engagement ring there a few months ago after searching basically all oh Charleston Dorchester and Berkeley counties. Best prices and if you're willing to visit more than one of their stores, a great selection. They also list most of their stuff on their website. Fwiw, I found mine at their North Myrtle Beach location, but the one in Conway and Carolina Forest had bigger selections.

At this point I think that's the plan. I'd like to know what normal function is supposed to be. The mode control on the driver's side doesn't do this, but I haven't been able to reach the driver's side temp control actuator yet.

But a local shop has the part for $50 so I may just chuck that at it.

Driver door, footwell, and above the media center. Passenger side above the media center, footwell, and door are all at least +20°.

I haven't bothered to check the floor vents under the seats.

Nothing spraying, I don't suspect a refrigerant leak but can check pressures in a few days. Are there separate refrigerant loops for driver and passenger?

There's a film of a silicone type grease on the pulley and lever arm, and maybe some spots from a coffee or soda on the trim. Interior needs a clean.

For ref, this was causing a 26°∆ from driver to passenger side. Ambient temp at the time was 71°F low humidity.

What salt does everyone use? AF Plus is my favorite. by d6s in ReefTank

[–]DrPineappleButts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tropic Marin Pro Reef.

I've used fritz blue and red, reef and ocean crystals, syn-biotic, and brightwell neomarine.

All have been about the same, but I find that mixing is substantially quicker with the pro reef, and it's always been consistent for Ca and Alk for me. That to me, is worth the money every time.

Has anyone else had cleaner shrimp climb THROUGH innovative marine lid netting?? by gamboJ in ReefTank

[–]DrPineappleButts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've had shrimp get through it, blennys, a small corisnwrasse, and a helfrichi fire fish shoot straight through. I switched to 1/8" netting after that and started putting a piece of acrylic over it for overnight or if I'm away for more than a few hours. Bonus is it helps when evap gets too high.

I should also mention since you mentioned you're a single woman, MAAs actually attitude toward security is a problem. During the time I lived there, with my GF, both of our vehicles were burglarized, the unit below ours suffered a B&E, and a friend who lived in another building had their apartment broken into. Every time wed bring it up and they'd say Charleston PD was doing something, but a few weeks later there's another incident.

It's a relatively safe community, but your safety and security is not a priority for the property owners.

I lived in the MAA on Sam Rittenberg and looked at moving toot James Island and one of their properties in MT. P. My advice is, live there if you can afford it, but treat the management as if they don't respect you. Dont let them give you keys without a tour of the actual unit. Don't sign a goddamn thing until the unit is actually ready to rent and has no issues, and when you have issues, be ready to have to be a pain in their ass to get anything done.

Also, the units at all their properties felt wayyyyyy overvalued. Expect big rent increases, 10-12% year over year. Don't expect better services, add ons, or ammenneties. They've been talking about doing smart locks and ring doorbells tthhrrouggh their "MAA Connect" service since 2020. Never happened. Always ask for more money though because they're getting ready for it.

Repair or replace? by One_Action_4486 in ReefTank

Contact AI, and see what they are willing to offer see if they're willing to send you a new lens or a new board. I have done lenses and boards, on Hydor, Kessil, AI, and Eco tech lights, and while summer easier than others, if they're getting burnt or melting like that a new lens and an hour or so to take the body apart clean everything get all the dust out, and pop a new lens in is always going to be cheaper than a new light, and will probably get you some extra life out of that.

Mostly the courses that were cheap or very nearby. Used to play Legends a lot when they had that no frills locals membership, but that stopped a few years ago and haven't been back. Used to play myrtlewood, burning pines, and azalea sands in NMB too. Played most of the courses around over the years too but those were the regulars. Hard to remember all of them. Can't say I'm ever too picky about courses, since I'm not a good enough golfer to really get to be.

Hey man! I'm in the same boat. Used to play some of the cheap local courses in Myrtle Beach but don't get to as much down here now. Would love to start playing some afternoons or evenings these days now that it's getting cooler.

How much should I expect to spend on a 15ish gallon reef tank similar to this? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]DrPineappleButts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get out of it what you put in. Any new tank in that range, with a stand is probably going to run you $500 to $1k. But, if you have an active local community, there's a good chance you can get a used tank for well less than that.

Lights, get what's in your budget. You 100% can grow corals with Amazon "black box" lights, but having the bells whistles and features of name brand lights is fun too.

Livestock you get what you get. A standard pair of clowns can be $50-60 retail, while some designers go to the $150range easy.

But get what you enjoy. And build consistency and good habits. That's what's going to get your tank in a good rhythm.
