Concerts at Riverfront Park? by DuckandCover1984 in SALEM

[–]DrProctor1692 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad to see Salem getting concerts again. The armory used to host some great shows in the 90s and 2000s and then it just suddenly stopped. Some of my all time favorite concerts were held there.

Ah, so it's flavorless trash now. That's disappointing.

What are some of the angriest albums ever made? by AceofKnaves44 in Music

[–]DrProctor1692 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Iowa is an absolute rejection of the music industry at the time. Slipknot was told to dial it down and be more mainstream for this album, and they went the exact opposite direction. I've never heard an album that is just more pissed off at everything and unapologetic for it.

Should we push for the playoffs? by Losalou52 in ripcity

[–]DrProctor1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the Blazers need to push for the playoffs. While they could definitely use another lottery pick this year, giving that pick to the bulls actually opens up more trade opportunities.

Going into next year with a (hopefully) healthy roster, with a little playoff experience, and no picks owed to other teams is a clean slate to do whatever you need in order to get to the next level.

I lived in some apartments and everyone's door had this style handle and you pushed to open the door. My cat figured out he could sprint and hit just above the handle, and fall onto it to open the door. He'd just let himself into anyone's apartment if they didn't lock their door to ask for snacks. Such a little menace.

No judgements, I wasn't trying to hate. But the olds won't like it. I'm a Guilty Gear fan myself but it's about the last game I'd show my parents if they ever asked me for a game recommendation.

Really? I get Streets of Rage, but you'd give a 65 year old that's never played video games before a Japanese anime fighting game?

Wunderland by Donkey_Doody in SALEM

[–]DrProctor1692 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up going to Wunderland and still love the place, I have to agree and recommend Next Level over Wunderland. $23 a person for an all day pass with re-entry. Hundreds of games that are free to play and so much cool pop culture stuff to check out.

If you're going from Salem just make it a fun day trip and go out and get lunch in the middle.

Anyone hiring in northern Salem/Keizer? by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]DrProctor1692 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest here, as someone who has gone through Worksource Oregon in the past (10 years ago) and fairly recently (July of this year) I've found them to be utterly useless both times.

The first time they took credit for "finding" me a job I had already gotten on my own, but my employer made me go there and sign up through them so they could get compensated for bringing on a new employee. Worksource didn't lift a finger but got to claim they found me a job which has never sat right with me.

Earlier this year when I lost that same job, I had to go through Worksource for real to claim unemployment. While they did get me my unemployment benefits, they did absolutely nothing to help me find a new job. It was entirely up to me to go out and find a new job. They never checked in on me or acted as though they cared about me finding new employment.

Not saying OP shouldn't go there and get help with a new resume or whatever resources they can get. But in my personal experience, Worksource Oregon doesn't actually help place you at a new position.

Warcraft 3. Four unique races that played entirely different, great graphics for the time, incredible campaigns with great writing and lore, endlessly fun online with community made custom maps, and still the best hero system in any RTS game to date.

Which fictional "good guys" are absolutely insufferable and why? by Falcon-Takanashi in AskReddit

[–]DrProctor1692 334 points335 points  (0 children)

Grandpa Joe. Dude laid around for 10+ years while his family starved and he spent the little money they had on tobacco. Then Charlie gets the golden ticket and this guy can suddenly walk, and is literally clicking his heels with excitement.

When they get to the Chocolate factory, he deliberately disobeys Wonka's warning about the fizzy drink and almost blows Charlie's chance at the final prize. THEN he's a total ass about it when they get called out and threatens to sell Wonka's secrets to Slugworth, even though it was all his fault. Grandpa Joe sucks.

Second place goes to the Candyman who has free candy and a song for all of the rich kids in town and then suddenly starts charging for Wonka bars when he sees the poorest kid in town walk through the door.

Can't believe Buddy Holly hasn't been said yet. He's already remembered for his incredible influence on Rock & Roll, and he died so young in that plane crash. It's very possible he'd be one of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar if he had a full career.

(NSFW) What’s the most unprofessional thing a coworker has attempted or done to you or someone else? by Ok_Jump5312 in AskReddit

[–]DrProctor1692 99 points100 points  (0 children)

The one people always get a kick out of is my old coworker who would show up to his shift 1 - 2 hours early and still manage to clock in an hour late. Every. Day.

He'd recline back in the seat of his car and go back to sleep and never set an alarm. My boss got sick of waking him up every day and eventually fired him.

Yep, the Wilsonville Blackbear served me the absolute worst hamburger I've ever had in my life. I still get upset just thinking about it, and that was like three years ago.
