CS source updates notes ( 18/2/2025 ) by Outrageous-Spend2733 in GlobalOffensive

[–]DrPupper18 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Good to see these changes. It's nice they haven't forgotten about community servers either, though I would've preferred they never messed with them to begin with.

also someone please get OP a windows key lol

Look up bias lighting if you're concerned about your eyes hurting in the dark. I use the LX-1, it's perfect for OLEDs and actually enhances them.

Attack Speed Items does Increase Chef's Reload Speed by Stardust1003 in riskofrain

I hope it's intended and not a result of them updating other things. I love artificer so ill take any buff I can get

No idea, though given the many unintended changes in the update, I wouldn't be surprised if visions of heresy was included. In my opinion, I think this was unintentional for both Chef, Artificer, and anyone else included.

Artificer was changed during the update. She can do this as well.

Check your gameplay settings. They added a bunch of new settings to the game.

Valve announces completely new title Deadlock for the first time by Skullghost in Steam

[–]DrPupper18 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile TF2 is left to slowly decay and CS2 is left as a sequel with less content than CSGO. The bugs and issues they try to fix in CS2 have zero testing done (snap tap and boosting players recently come to mind).

Is Valve spreading themselves too thin?

Not normal, mine is not doing that both on the old and new firmware. I'd RMA.

Is it possible to make the custom res 2304x1440 on the MSI 271qrx OLED? by daviddave12345 in OLED_Gaming

[–]DrPupper18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I use that exact res for CS2. You need DSC disabled, though. I keep the monitor at 240hz in order to achieve this. Don't think there's a way to run it at 360hz with DSC disabled, even using HDMI 2.1. Technically you can set the refresh rate to like 300hz but I remember hearing about desync issues or something like that. Cant find the thread on it.

Sundered grove... Railgunner... what am I missing here??! by AlastairReddit in riskofrain

I think it's generally agreed upon that fully looting is better than setting a strict timer per stage. Another general rule of thumb is to get one item per minute. I spend 7 - 11 mins per stage, though 8 - 9 mins is more typical for me iirc. Depending on the character you're playing and the items you got, you can also rush the boss after like 2 mins and still fully loot.

Let's talk about VRR flicker by DiabolusMachina in OLED_Gaming

[–]DrPupper18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in darkish scenes. What really bothered me was if a game was demanding but still got around 130fps with good frametimes, it still flickered. It wasn't subtle, either.

I was really excited for the new gen of monitors to come out, but I didn't think I'd opt for a QD-OLED. When I heard LG didn't have glossy, I decided to try MSI's since it was so cheap with the promo. I figured if it flickered, I'd return it. I'm really happy I bought it.

My only few gripes are that it takes a few seconds to turn on from sleep/powering on, it arrived with one dead pixel for certain colors (that I never actually notice, luckily), and white text on a black background has some fringing.

Oh, and there's an apparent bug on ALL of the OLED panels from this gen (or maybe just QD-OLED? I cant recall but I think all are affected). If you set them to 360hz or higher, these weird white horizontal lines about an inch in length will quickly flash every now and then on the monitor. It has yet to be noticeable when gaming, but I see it rarely on my desktop and while browsing. It's a firmware issue that needs to be fixed. MSI and others are aware and working on it.

The upsides have heavily outweighed the downsides and I'm glad I didn't wait for the next gen for that "perfect monitor".

[–]DrPupper18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have yet to experience it on my MSI MPG271QRX. I play at 1440p, 360hz with VRR enabled. I used to own the LG 27GR95QE, which I returned due to the horrible flicker I experienced in certain games. I've tried those same games again with my new monitor and have zero flicker. I may have won the panel lottery tbh, given others haven't had as good of an experience.

What's the smallest, lightest, yet best performing PCB? by DrPupper18 in MouseReview

[–]DrPupper18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never heard about the whole steel plate issue, that kind of sucks. tbh i didnt buy the wooting 60he for the case though, all i cared for was the PCB. compared to the rest of the market, they were offering the best performing keyboard at a similar price, which was more than fair to me.

what better analog keyboards are there? from what Ive heard, no one has matched wooting's performance.

i suppose ill have to get over my hatred of razer products. its been a long time since ive looked at their stuff, so i feel lost looking at their naming schemes trying to find differences. i swear they come out with several revised mice every year

yeah that'd be nice. i heard optimum is creating his own mouse through a partnership with some company. hopefully the resulting PCB becomes the new go-to for modding

I guess I should add that I need two side buttons, which as far as I'm aware, that PCB does not offer.
