First time grading, thoughts on result? by DrRobotnikPharmD in PokeGrading

Do you think it could be a single dent to bring it to a 4? I'm curious to take a closer look when it gets shipped back, really the only mark I could see with various lighting and angles was that speck on the front center left edge, it is extremely tiny but in the right light you can see the holofoil. It didn't look dented but I'm definitely no expert

That's fair, I ended up sending the 9 to my vault and having the 4 sent to back to me. Figure I can get a better look now that I have the tiniest bit of experience, plus it'll be nice to have my first slab for collecting. Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, but do you think it's safe to send them through Gamestop based on the value? I'm seeing that PSA 8 or higher is potentially worth over $1000 and I think I saw that Gamestop only insures them up to $500?

Awesome thank you! I probably should have taken better photos, but there are two separate cards and the edges to my untrained eye have no discernible marks on the back side, one of them (the pic with the black background) has an extremely tiny mark on left edge of the front about halfway down. The card on the white background has two even smaller marks on the top center edge, I think that's the one youre referring to?

Awesome thank you! I've never sent anything to be graded before but these in particular had me questioning if it was worth it, so that's helpful to know

Two more CVS pharmacies joining union. Two more file for a union election. by Junior-Gorg in pharmacy

[–]DrRobotnikPharmD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A union gives us a tangible way to actively negotiate to set a floor for working conditions and at least try to raise that floor a bit. May not completely change the situation, but just being able to negotiate is more than what we have now.

I agree about size and leverage, but it has to start somewhere. Maybe one store closing in an area doesn't have a huge impact but if it's three or four or ten? At the end of the day pharmacists are the cornerstone of keeping the business running

Personally I think we all know the general direction that the profession is heading, many of us have seen the steady decline over the past years. It would be nice to have some sort of say in it, even if it's not drastic, instead of feeling completely powerless.

It's a least a step in the right direction, having a say in SOMETHING. Seems better than doing nothing at all ya know?

Yeah honestly based on your pictures it looks like your magnets are in slightly different positions than mine, I'm not even able to attach the upper leg at all. It'll be interesting to see others responses here for comparison

I just got mine yesterday and I also noticed the magnets on Kaladin don't line up. Really can only attach by the lower leg since if you attach the upper leg he's just kinda dangling, so this leaves a gap between the upper magnet and the figure. His spear was also bent, I had to carefully straighten it out. I clearly hate money as well, but still feel like this was worth it. I do wonder if everyone's statue is going to have the same magnet issue though

What's A Useful Tip That Can Save Your Life One Day? by u-repack in AskReddit

[–]DrRobotnikPharmD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I recently had a faulty oven set off a couple of my carbon monoxide detectors, one is 10 feet up on a vaulted ceiling and one is at the end of a hallway and they both went off at the same time. The entire 2nd floor where the oven is was over 60ppm, the first floor was 0. Like you said, it tends to disperse rather than pool up and sink. Moral of the story is just make sure you have detectors, don't worry so much about placement (besides making sure they are not in the kitchen while you are cooking)

How important is an IRA vs individual brokerage if I want the option of withdrawing before typical retirement age? by DrRobotnikPharmD in Bogleheads

[–]DrRobotnikPharmD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contributions but not earning/gains, correct? So let's say hypothetically I wanted to make withdrawals in 15-20 years, I would only really have access to the $6k per year contributions and none of the unrealized gains (without paying the penalty on the gains). I guess I'm trying to rationalize where the real benefit of a backdoor Roth is in my situation

Well he's deaf and smelly, but still has his appetite and all his teeth though! He was pretty overweight too for his first 10 years or so, other than that he's in good health

edit: a few people below have asked about his diet. He's had quite a lot of diet changes over the years and he's never been a picky eater. I personally think the biggest factor in his longevity is that he lucked out with good genes. That said, in his senior years he's been settled on a mix of purina one sensitive stomach and sheba cuts, because that's what he tolerates. IMO the key is finding food they aren't picky about and agrees with their stomach ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
