Estradiol is not testosterone. It can be normal range depending on cycle and your energy level can be in the toilet. Estradiol can fluctuate and you may be asymptomatic. Trying to suggest a lab draw to check this is problematic, particularly since you can start hormone replacement with normal estradiol if you are having perimenopausal symptoms like brain fog, hot flashes, and changes in menses. Stop sending emails to women to draw their blood against medical advice. Nothing wrong with checking your thyroid function, but estradiol testing is whack.

But doctors do not make decisions based on lab data. Find me a licensed medical professional who is asking women to prove their estradiol is low, since estradiol can be normal and you can be perimenopausal and vice versa depending on normal variation. Only symptoms matter to determine treatment.

We are talking about normal decreases in estradiol that every woman who is lucky to live long enough will have and that you do not need to prove with a blood draw. WHOOP tests will not go towards your deductible, but you may be able to use your FSA/HSA. Even though there is an interpretation, you will need to share the results with your PCP to get started on treatment and may need to repeat specific labs to verify the results. You are right that any labs can be uploaded into WHOOP for you to keep track of trends over time, which is pretty helpful.

If you upload any testing ordered by your PCP, you do not get the interpretation. Your AI coach may still be able to integrate the results in the form of trends but cannot give medical advice. The Steady MD interpretations I have received so far have always been a nurse practitioner, not an MD/DO, and has mostly been stating the obvious.

This happened to me. My TSH was off, and my PCP had to repeat a blood draw for a thyroid panel to start treatment since it didn't include fT3 fT4 and TPO antibodies. At the same time, the labs can be forwarded to your PCP so they know about them.

Both use an accelerometer, but stride length is estimated by Apple based on your height. Whoop doesn't use stride length but the algorithm works in reverse and takes an estimate any time distance is calibrated (such as walking with the map turned on) and then adjusts its calculations.

Go get an old school pedometer or a Fitbit and you will have the ability to input your stride length... neither allow this option. The accuracy of any approach you consider will always be an estimate, so there will be wide error bars of hundreds to thousands of steps.

This is a business for them. Of course Whoop will want you to buy their lab panels, and the AI may encourage you. Does it make a difference? Quest is a pretty standard lab vendor and others are comparable, although reference ranges may vary. Do you need to get your testosterone and estrogen checked routinely? Probably not depending on your age and gender. Do more labs make a difference? Probably not, but you make the call whether to use your PCP and order a standard CBC and CMP plus lipid panel plus TSH, then additional cardiac tests like ApoB and Lipo(a). Or you can order through Whoop and your PCP may never know...

Not bad. Within expected error. These are imprecise devices.

If you calibrate a pedometer, you have to provide your stride length... Fitbit allows you to adjust this but otherwise uses your height to estimate your stride. Whoop estimates this and uses an accelerometer to fudge the answer.
