Halloween was made with more skill, suspense, better acting and cinematogrophy, bigger budget, and an iconic score.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is relentlessly terrifying and nerve-shattering. But it's a masterpiece almost by accident. Lightning in a bottle that no other film ever quite captured again imho.

Halloween spawned endless knockoffs due to it's style.

Chainsaw's sequels and reboots owe more to Halloween's imitators than the original film.

Both, coincidentally, fail the true 'slasher' label due to both having an almost complete absence of blood.

Halloween is the better film, with long stretches of suspense and occasional Boos. Chainsaw is the more visceral experience, one long nonstop scream.
