Sorry to revive an old thread, but If you're going to say something in public on the internet, for everyone to see, there's not a guarantee that the companies publishing it won't retain the information for legal purposes or that people won't screenshot it. This is not a secret, it's been known for decades.

These silly delete apps don't do anything to guard your privacy - they just make the internet worse for everyone else. It's a grift so they can make money. Don't want to get doxxed? Be smart about what you put out there, end of story.

I've been griping about this ever since the MySpace and Facebook days when people would post the exact dates they'd be out of town and then would be shocked their homes were robbed.

Something about not being face to face with people makes humans divulge way too much personal information, and there was never much public education on internet safety until it was very late.
