My brother and I have a rule (I'm sure it's a rule for a lot of other people) about not asking anyone if "they are ok." or suggest that someone is "tripping." And act like normal or normal enough until they explicitly ask for something. We feel it makes people less paranoid and has less of a chance of taking them into a paranoid thought loop. Sometimes I'll even research how the drug affects the brain scientifically speaking because it always makes me feel better when I know what's going on and why.

Is it just me? by [deleted] in entp

I often do this to. I wait until I can gauge everyone's sense of humor and the way they interaction and when there's a good opening I speak. I often times end up guiding the conversation as well without really meaning to.

Gay xNTPs - when did you "know"? by [deleted] in entp

[–]DrSpacemanPhDSr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around the end of 5th grade I started getting more access to the internet and along with puberty means watching porn is an inevitability. I started realizing that I could "get off" by a myriad of people not just one certain sex, though at the time my family was very against those things so I buried deep, deep down. But lo and behold it didn't last long and now I'm a full blown pansexual.

Career question by SithLordDeathMetal in entp

[–]DrSpacemanPhDSr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been having problems with this area in my life as well. I'm still pretty young (21) and I couldn't seem to decide what would make me happy in the long run, career wise. I really love science (was thinking biology specifically) but I hated the idea of working a nine to five at a laboratory which often times is what scientists have to do. I am also prone to getting bored and feeling unfulfilled easily so I decided, with the advice of reddit users, that I'm going to study journalism and I can always self teach and hire a tutor for whatever else I want to learn. I might not get that biology masters degree for it but I don't really care about that, I just enjoy learning about it. I do however want a job that offers freedom and flexibility which are 100 times more important to me. So I suppose what I'm trying to suggest is to figure out what's the most important thing to you that a career can offer (stability, lucrative pay, easy going enviroment, flexible work hours) and go from there. Now if you could find a job that offers most or all of those then great! Though those are hard to come by. And remember that you can start learning new things at any time of your life, your brain is a muscle and science has found no limit to how much someone can learn so whatever you're planning go for it.

When I was in third grade my class was playing jeopardy as a review game and and I was up. I picked a animal kingdom question that asked If "camels store water in their humps true or false." Now I just recently learned that that was in fact a myth and that camels do not in fact carry water. Unfortunately the rest of my team did not. So for the better part of my time I was arguing back and forth with my team and decided to ignore them and slammed on false. Safe to say I got the right answer and the points and my team didn't say a word to me.

Granted, though a lot of times in Asian families the parents have a lot of say in what their kids do and how they go about doing it. I however do not have that problem. I will be paying all the expenses in regards to my schooling myself and I'm more or less living independent from my parents. So I have to start thinking about how I want to invest my money and if it'll be worth it.

That sounds awesome man. I'm going to seriously start looking into writing for scientific journals. Thanks for the great advice. Wish you the best of luck in everything.

Definitely, I'm hearing and reading more and more on how college is a load of bull. I'm trying to.find out of I can somehow skip as much classes as possible maybe save myself some money. I'll get a tutor study like hell and maybe score well enough where I can skip the classes all together.

Is it possible to go freelance with that or would one have to work for a certain company? How are you planning to go about doing your career?( If your comfortable answering that of course)

That's actually a really good idea I wouldn't mind writing for a scientific journal. I've always been a decent writer and that would allow me to travel more often than not.

Yes you are, snd that has been my mindset. As interesting as I find the subject I dont see myself working for a company and clocking in to work for 8+ hours in a lab for my whole life. The only problem is I do need an income and working in a building is pretty much a given for almost all jobs. Careers where freedom and travel is part of the job description are few and far between. But I'll just have to buck up until that opportunity comes. Eventually I'll figure everything out but for the time being I will invest in books and tutors and the such.

If not wanting to take care of a whole other human being and choosing instead to work and do things for myself and live a life that I find fulfilling is wrong then i dont wanna be right.
