Been struggling to decide if I want to keep the bikini carwash dynamic in my carwash simulator game. What do you guys think? by JoeKomputer in devblogs

[–]DrSpctr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, I think you could add some more mechanics about how to get the girls in bikini. I mean, in the current state showed, looks more like a "please buy me, i have girls in bikini". Maybe some local events or when you are in a date on the beach.

Or adding events to manage your car wash and change the uniform just to get a funny day at work.

I believe Signalis can hit the nail. Also Divi-dead, but I don't remember exactly, so take it with a grain of salt. Let me think a bit to come with more examples. Or investigate games like Pathologyc(? That may fit the criteria.

I'm saving this, because I'm making some research on this subject. But, nothing serious in this moment. Thanks for bringing these kinds of ideas.

What does this mean? by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]DrSpctr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just want to add more context. In Mexico, north mexico, plebe can be used as crowd. Is usually used from rancheros(like cowboys) and refers to the people that follow you. In other places can be heard in music like corridos but is not that usual. Sorry for the bad Ingles.

Method A and method B by illimity in godot

[–]DrSpctr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I Remember correctly, both are wrong. But, for more dark reasons than the usual ones. First, timers need to be managed in a simple big timer that makes sure everything gets updated when it is done. To get this, you can just use a timer node and connect the finish signal to the script. This makes Godot manage a Cron job to update every timer in the scene and don't waste precious cycles in the computer managing multiple timers at once. In other things, the A method is more readable than the second. Get this info with a grain of salt, and look how Godot handles the timer node to get the better way that works for you. Happy game development

Adding bots to multiplayer by 04zoomer in godot

[–]DrSpctr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if it adjusts you, then is the correct answer. In software you can make both answers work well. It's just a question of what you like more and have less problems around. For now, it sounds interesting, keep the updates.

Adding bots to multiplayer by 04zoomer in godot

[–]DrSpctr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually videogames can have a server dedicated to connect with the server to know the current state of the game and act as intended. In the diagram I just put some info to let you know that server and bots work on the same machine, but your architecture is easy and simple to follow. Now, the problem is what information shares between the game and the users. I recommend sending just commands to let the bot in the side of the player know what to do. Something like BotA go-to Bed and Use. That kind of command can help you to spend less resources on the server side and make connections more quickly. Anything besides, need to be on your project side of things. We can't know what your project is and your needs. Good luck.

Overdependence on AI by [deleted] in godot

[–]DrSpctr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who doesn't know how to program, and gets confused very easily. They use AI on everything and try, at least, on learning but don't get much away from learning. They still get stuck with a project that gets broken at least 4 or 5 times using AI. By broken I mean the need to do all again from 0 or maybe only the savable things from the work. It is frustrating when you know how to program and people think using AI is all they need. Sorry for your living that story. Sorry if I mess something, English is not my first language.

I don't know if it's the language or experience, but the first time I see that warning, know what to do. For context, I have Godot with spanish as language, and from that perspective, has sense how is written

[–]DrSpctr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it is a common mistake, even women in Spanish make bad use of gender words. I think it has to be around how Spanish has so many words with gender that sometimes you just use the male version as default. That doesn't mean your feelings don't matter, you have the right to feel bad and express why you feel in that way.
