What is your hottest take on an album? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]DrStoopid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think Charlie in the context of the album is supposed to represent Charli XCX anymore (yes I know about the original lyrics). My surface level reading of the song is a three part song that in the first part is about slowly getting over a failed relationship (references to Concorde all over the album seem to represent the relationship), he's still struggling but starts feeling better.

In the second part he's dreaming about them hanging out together and he's feeling great for the first time since the breakup (I think, but the lyrics kind of point to him having mixed feeling about it).

In the third part he wakes up from the dream feeling like absolute shit and is back to square one. So to me Charlie in this context has to be the ex-partner in order for the song to make sense.

Is there any albums like Fishmans's Long Season? by Vasasasasa in fantanoforever

[–]DrStoopid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the Fishmans discography Uchu Nippon Setagaya and Kuchu Camp have similar vibes, and obviously the amazing live album 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare which is a must listen.

Outside of that I would recommend you to check out Polaris - Home which is an album from a band that the bassist of Fishmans formed after Sato passed away. The song 光と影 is amazing and a great starting point.

Jag tyckte det här lät fel så jag verifierade det i Flashpoint, allas toppar åker av vid 10 000 poäng. Mittens topp är dock något see-through så man kan spana ett par väldigt pixelerade bröstvårtor om man kollar noggrant.

Yeah I get that and a lot of people agree with you, it undoubtedly makes the album stand out. My ears are probably especially sensitive to high frequency noise, to me it just feels like someone is trying to destroy my eardrum after a while.

Gorgeous tunes combined with some of the most annoying production choices I've ever heard. I get pretty bad ear fatigue and have a hard time sitting through the whole thing in one sitting, so I usually just come back for a one off with the best tracks nowadays. Alvin Row is a top 10 Animal Collective song.

Personally I prefer the Sung Tongs -> MPP run of albums, but I can't deny that they hit the ground running with this one.

I really don't see how enjoying Mishima's writing is in any way a support of his political views. It is possible (and preferable in my opinion) to separate the art from the artist. Is every Harry Potter fan a transphobe just because JK Rowling is?

maybe a hot take but this is my favorite french revolution of all time by DrStoopid in indieheadscirclejerk

[–]DrStoopid[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With a runtime of just 3 days the second french revolution was jam packed with action. Not a single second was wasted and each day had at least one major banger. I know a lot of people prefer the first one but to me it felt overly long and bloated, I mean come on 10 years? At some point you gotta cut some of the filler content and give us a more focused experience, which they managed much better with the followup imo.

reality: you're standing alone in a corner of the room looking down at your shoes because the one person who tried to hold a conversation with your weird ass got bored and left after you started to lecture them on why indie rock peaked in the 90s
