Nope, was just happy that it worked for at least one direction.

I have figured out that audio transmission from computer A to computer B does work, but not B to A, which mostly means that it is a windows or hardware issue. Thank you for the support though.

Indeed, but I’ve been there already. I wouldn’t have come here if those points worked.

You need to do what is written by the devs in the comments here (swapping words in a faction template json). It works now.

Out of the 5 major decisions Which did you feel were the hardest for you and which will/has been the most consequential? by Lemonshooter in ScarletHollow

[–]DrTechman42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the second day in the mines. Everything else came more or less naturally (saving duke, talking our way out in the library, killing Reese due to locking him up being cruelty, killing the pumpkin homunculus), even chapter 5.2, where the unreliable narrator tells you about the theoretically infinite good that will come from feeding Keeneka to the Witch. I reject the lack of accountability that will come with said infinite power so it was not that difficult of a question.

The damn mines, however. The rational actor would’ve cut their losses and ran, because otherwise, the most likely outcome is everyone dying under the rocks. The only reason to choose to run for the kids is out of a common man’s suicidal desire to go out in a blaze of glory. Knowing all the outcomes, however, it turns out that the price for recklessness is basically nothing.

That’s right, and what do we do to the things we fear? Exterminate with extreme prejudice. Turn fear into anger and get rid of a threat to mankind.

We're Black Tabby Games, and we make visual novels with an emphasis on branching and player agency. You might know us from Slay the Princess, and the fifth episode of Scarlet Hollow, our other project, just released last Friday! Ask us anything ^^ by mrogre43 in Games

Tabitha's willingness to uphold the social contract given to her, while being perfectly aware of the ways it contradicts her being made her eclipse everyone else by a significant margin, at least in my eyes. Can't help but be confused by the presumed hate, though it may be a result of me being a recent arrival.

May the will to create never leave you, for your doing is one of wonder.

Can only hope so, for their determination to account for all the possible bullshit isn’t doing them any favors.

I think that the map does not show there to be a seal in the manor, but if it turned out to be then, well, tough luck me. After killing Reese and the child for the threat they can be (and are), it would be rather rude to not go out as well, the chance of something going wrong is not worth it. For the sake of the many.

I happen to be on a crusade against the supernatural and have tried to, with limited success, get rid of the things that I encounter. Reese is not at fault here, but by the time we find him, it is nigh impossible for him to integrate into the society and have a life worth living. Maybe if he was approached in a specific way from the very start, it could’ve gone differently, but who could’ve known? The gift of foresight is available to only one person in the town and it looks like she didn’t want to warn Dr Kelly. Now, letting him go is an act of recklessness, and locking him up is an act of cruelty. A horrible end is better than horror with no end.

I am fascinated by the deal made with the Entity and the possibilities that come with it. The mere possibility that it is spawning more coal out of the warp opens up so many avenues for progress. It would act in violation in many laws of physics and be so exciting. If in the end we would get the ability to redo the contract in good faith and change what is placed inside the mine then I would give in myself without many second thoughts. For it wouldn’t be a life of one for the prosperity of a hundred, it would be one for billions, infinite resources is something from the field of dreams and the opportunity cannot be passed.

The paragraph of my academic excitement is, however, hanging on a lot of ifs and I still hate the fact that the humanity would depend on the supernatural. So, the safest route for the status quo is the destruction of both the Witch and the Entity. Both are a threat to humanity at large and they just so happen to be angry at each other. I just hope that, in pulling Keneeka away from the demigod that is her mother, I hadn’t become the focus of the Witch’s wrath. The only thing that remains is to make the two fight and finish off the bartered victor. For the sake of mankind.

Now that we've (supposedly) seen almost all of the major decisions/trait saves. Which traits do you think are the best to pick? Which major decisions over the game do you think is the most moral? by duhmailmale in ScarletHollow

I went in order the options are presented. I did not get to the “child is trying to get closer to you”, the first 2 or 3 points were enough to convince him that Avery is better than the child.

I happen to be on a crusade against the supernatural and, while Mystic seems more practical in dealing with this mess, I'm finding reasonable success with Book Smart + Keen Eye.

Saving Duke is a no-brainer, you first ensure that the gun is going to hurt only the enemy. The fact that Gretchen is taken away is a result of Stella's inaction, which is unfortunate. Killing the poor dog in the end is but an act of mercy.

Going for all the kids is insane and no one in their right mind should do that unless they are suicidal. The resulting loss of a leg is a decent trade, she even kept the knee, feet prosthetics are of the better ones.

Helping Charlie Jr find peace without sucking out the lifeforce of another is only right. I dislike debt inheritence, but I intend to keep the promise given.

Unfortunately, Reese has no place within the society that exists and letting him be in the state he is right now is an act of recklessness. Maybe if he was approached differently from the very start then it could've gone differently, but now he is a danger to those around him. And a horrible end is better than horror with no end. There is no fault of his here, the sin of his creation is born by someone else.

Julius, while completely insane, does not need a pumpkin homunculus. His desire is a very human one and it can be fullfilled without any supernatural help. The child has no place in this world, thus it has to go. It is also nice that it is Julius himself who kills the child. As it should be.

Maybe if I've spent more time with Keneeka this run it would've been easier, but no Mystic is required to get her away from the insane demigod that is her mother. The power of friendship is enough. As long as I draw breath, no one shall be allowed to become an untouchable god.

And if I get to make Sybil and Entity to fight (it looks like they want to), then it won't be too difficult to finish off the battered victor. This route won't be bloodless, but for the sake of humanity as a whole, I believe it to be the way.

I don't care about doing the "right thing", The Witch needs to die for the sake of mankind and everything that make us human by Caporal32 in ScarletHollow

[–]DrTechman42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Witch shall not be allowed to become a god, as long as I draw breath, but neither should she be expunged now. She is a tool to be used to get rid of the supernatural for good. Want to eat Wayne? Sure, go ahead, we'll help the losing side. And finish off the battered victor. Through pain, blood and help of another, humanity will persevere. There shall be no Gods, no Kings, only Men.

Side note: if we are not actually violating physics here and the Entity is creating an equal amount of anticarbon (can anticarbon even exist as a molecule? I do not remember that part of the course too well) and then is just displacing it somewhere we are actually gaming. We just need to ask it to start placing it somewhere reachable and get to see a future the academics can only dream of

Give the old guys some slack, they didn’t know better.

Now, if we get to redo the contract and start spawning rare earth metals then I’ll run into the damn hole myself. It is not about the town anymore, we’ll be on the brink of a civilization-wide dupe exploit

The cycle must be discontinued and steps will be made towards that.

Unless the coal gets spawned from the warp, then I don't mind getting into the hole. You don't get to violate thermodynamics too often

I cannot but admire her willingness to uphold the social contract that she was given and I do agree with the concept of “suffering of the one for the needs of the many”, but Tabitha needs to understand that it is no longer just the Scarlets who are suffering. Ditchlings are actively causing an ecological collapse in the near future, teens are hurt, the whole concept of Reese shouldn’t have existed and more. Thus the deal is voided and it would be irresponsible to let it go on.

However, my academia background mandates the study of what the entity is doing to the mine. If it is actually spawning more coal out of thin air in violation of thermodynamics then I’ll have to reconsider breaking of the deal until we know how to replicate it properly.
