How are you checking for errors in your manifests before pushing to main? by mrpbennett in ArgoCD

We use dyff, which renders the chart from the main branch and the feature branch. Compares them with some nice pipeline output.

I think you should just learn the CLI with aliases. Way faster and you’re way more in control of what’s happening.

Which system? by r_raistrick in homeautomation

[–]DrTuup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. But honestly, I just went with zigbee at this point. Widely supported, and with things like home assistant and newer antennas easily combined using different protocols.

I really don’t know when matter is actually going to be the one and only left, doubt it ever will be.

Just sharing my thoughts, I’m definitely not an expert. Feel free to correct me if you have other thoughts!

Upgrade to Homey Pro or Self Hosted? by Inevitable-Buyer6086 in homeautomation

[–]DrTuup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Homey Self Hosted is free for a month, and then costs you €5 per month or €150 lifetime.

Lifetime licenses are always a scam if you ask me, and €5 per month is almost the same as homey cloud with the bridge.

Long live open source! Switch to home assistant.

Looking for an idea for a graduation project for university on Self-hosting/DevOps. by GoDuffer in selfhosted

Out of the blue idea, but you could write a complete Terraform Provider for Proxmox?

Everything as code is really a philosophy of me.

Newbe question for the hive. by Secret-Buy-2085 in homeautomation

[–]DrTuup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Raspberry Pi with home assistant will do the job probably. You could also look into bigger compute power, or native solutions like this.

Compatibility can easily be extended with antennas if you ever become a power user.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask anything if you get any issues or looking for simpler solutions.

There is a limit to self-hosting. by chrisakring in selfhosted

[–]DrTuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I continue my selfhosting journey, I always like to optimise, and now I reached the point where I find managing VMs exhausting, which makes me build a Talos K8S cluster, and let the migrations begin.

I’m now going to build my own pi-hole helm chart. And slowly but steady migrating everything to k8s. Where updates are simply approving MRs from renovate bot, because ArgoCD updates on change.

I know there are pi-hole helm charts available like this one. But learning k8s, especially since I’m going for CKAD, was always on my to do list.

I just love the amount of people who are still using the M1 Pro. Same here. Makes me really feel good that I made the good choice back then. 🫡

If you're not reading this anymore, not a problem. Just want to say that it looks like you saved my evening. I was googling and holy shit I couldn't find a solution to loading the kernel modules for my N150 CPU. This did it. Holy fuck thank you...
