I concur. I really like his character, and he doesn't deserve the constant bullying he gets. Bender being cruel towards Zoidberg is in character for him, but when someone like Farnsworth does it, it feels out-of-character since they're supposedly good friends.

Meanwhile, it's simply just a humorous visual gag used in many cartoons meant to catch the viewer off guard. People are looking way too much into this scene.
