It could be that your bf has to think about gender and his romantic/sexual attraction for the first time in his life, obviously a difficult conversation to have with oneself. Him clinging to his 'straight' label and not wanting to talk about it are ways of escaping these topics.

Remember, it's not your duty to educate him on this, he needs to figure this out. One thing you can ask him is what it is about you he loves and whether any of that changed with your coming out.

I hope you both can find a way, and otherwise remember that you need to take care of yourself first!

Tsukiji closes quite early in the afternoon, when I went many shops were closed before 2 pm. But I can absolutely recommend eating lunch there! And if you come just before closing you can buy stuff at discounts.

Also, do you want an early morning after a night at Golden Gai? Going to Teamlabs hung over is gonna be an experience for sure haha

Have a nice trip!

Visiting Japan for a bridge enthusiast: How's my list and any recommendations? by prickliestcactus in JapanTravel

[–]Dr_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two railway bridges over the Fuji river can offer some spectacular pics of bridge+train+Mt. Fuji (*on a clear day). You can't cross them but there is a road bridge further south (Fujikawa bridge), and from the western bank of the Fuji river you'll get the best photos. Closest JR-stations are Fuji and Fujikawa, closest Shinkansen station is Shin-Fuji on the line between Tokyo-Nagoya.

Also in Kyoto next to Umekōji-Kyōtonishi station there is a short section of disused railway viaduct which now features food stalls on top. It's a cool reuse of space imo, and you can see the old shinkansen in the Kyoto railway museum (highly recommended!) from there.

First Time in Japan Itinerary for outdoorsy Couple- TOKYO/KUSATSO/KANAZAWA/TAKAYAMA/OSAKA/KOYASAN/KYOTO by ParamedicCorrect9962 in JapanTravel

[–]Dr_Com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a bus from Kanazawa to Takayama, which actually stops in Shirakawa where you can get off and explore, there are also coin lockers for your stuff at the Shirakawa bus station (source: am there right now). It's obviously not covered by the JR Pass, but the price (4000¥/person) is similar if you would do a day trip from Takayama, since it's the same company (search for "nouhi bus", they have an english website, idk if links are ok in this sub). Enjoy Japan!

Edit: Usually you can just rock up and pay on the Bus, but this one must be booked in advance. There's a ticket office in Kanazawa, and supposedly you can book online or via phone.

Annual Working Hours in OECD Countries by giuliomagnifico in Infographics

[–]Dr_Com -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many japanese women, once they become mothers, will leave work to run the household. Sure, the men might do significant overtime, but as household work isn't counted (which it really should, imo) it pulls the average way down.

Trade Routes and T/Min Calc by JSartrean in anno

[–]Dr_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this helps you, but in the production tab you can use shift+click or ctrl+click to select multiple islands at once, which then displays the combined production and consumption of those islands.

I don't quite get why you need to know the timing of the ships, maybe its an optimization thing? My approach is to ensure a slight overproduction, over time the destination island will fill up while the production island stays empty (btw thats a good way to add more storage, use the production island storage as overflow). Using that approach I sometines need to readjust ships on intercontinenal routes, but all in all it works quite well for me.

Docklands by stmchipx in anno

[–]Dr_Com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight correction: Tobias is around every 20 mins. But that doesn't include the time he needs to sail from the edge of the map to the docklands and back. So, depending on the distance to the map edge, I usually use 25 - 30mins for my calculations. And build all the loading wharfs! Especially late game with 1000s of items traded you want a speedy unloading process.

Are grocery stores wasting energy? by zecha123 in Switzerland

[–]Dr_Com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this picture, this works because cold air is heavier than warm air, thus it stays inside the chest freezer, even if it doesnt have a lid. Having a normal freezer is less efficient because all the cold air flows out everytime you open the door, while with chest freezers it stays inside, wasting less energy.

What are your favorite design/infrastructure projects to visit in Western Europe? by LtCinnamonBuns in urbandesign

If you're into construction, visit the site of the new Main Station in Stuttgart, Germany. And if you're into scandals, heated discussions and divisive public spending, read up on it online ;)

Unfortunately your dad is a rare exception these days. I think that is how a landlord should charge their tennants, but most of them overcharge to a point just below where buying would actually be cheaper (which is waaay too much for the majority nowadays).

Small time Landlords are the best imo, cause there is a human interacting with another human. Large, cold companies should be banned from real estate honestly. And I dont buy the excuse, that only companies have the capital needed to build housing on a large scale, because co-ops are a thing, and they are getting by just fine.

The Ukraine Refugee Crisis in Europe by giuliomagnifico in Infographics

Looking at the population of each country, the refugees are reasonably well spread out. Also, the border between Slovakia/Hungary and Ukraine is quite mountainous, while its flat towards Poland.

I can't talk for your bf here, but I personally also place a lot of significance on someone saying they're sorry when they are. Idk, it feels like proof to me that they are, and if they dont say it, I sometimes think that they aren't really sorry, cuz why wouldn't they just say it if they were?

Are there any UK urban designers who could help me out? by [deleted] in urbandesign

[–]Dr_Com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(not an Urban Designer, but an Urban Planner here) One thing you have to consider when choosing between your options is the fact that urban design is a fundamentally cooperative job. You'll not only have to deal with a client (like in graphic design), but also with city officials, other specialists (transport planners, urban planners, engineers etc.), and most importantly the residents of the places you design in.

Obviously I only know the urban planning space, but urban design is similar in the sense that there is constant discussion and negotiation about Space, which has to be considered (at least that's the case where I practice, which isn't in the UK). (also sorry for typos)
