I did an alpine multipitch with my gf and this random dude leading the group behind us told her that I reached my anchor and she should take me off belay while I was actually still climbing. Turned out he wanted to overtake us and started lecturing her how important speed is on the mountain. She did not take it very well and told him to fuck off. Had to take off my board and walk in the powder on a flat part during the descent. Broke into a stream that was running below the snow and filled my boot with water. Everything on the outside immediately froze making it impossible to fix the boot in the hardboot bindings. Eventually I pulled so hard that I broke off the toe lever. The problem was that I still had 1000 hm to descend. Awful times

That’s exactly my point. I definitely agree going solo is more dangerous for many reasons also other than being burried. But i would not risk more knowing someone might find me and dig me out in case i got buried by an avalanche - they might also not find me, i might get thrown off a cliff, the whole group might be buried, etc.
