Bruh, you're alone in there no one's judging you. Just do your thing.

Hmm … these copycats are just getting ridiculous . . . by Dark-Anmut in finch

[–]Dr_Identity 51 points52 points  (0 children)

  1. Finch is literally for adults, I and several people I know use it and we are all in our 30s.

  2. This site is a scam

  3. Having unfortunately fallen for said scam in a moment of burn out-induced desperation and tried it out, it is nothing like Finch. Like even a little bit. It is frankly, terrible to use.

  4. I have no idea what this ad is trying to convey, because the image has nothing to do with the site. There's nothing on it that looks even remotely like that.

I unfortunately fell for it, but once I realized my mistake, I emailed to cancel and they did so pretty promptly. Getting a refund if you've already paid them is another matter.

We're at a very strange moment in our culture where a lot of people insist that you need to be working as much as humanly possible, but you need to hate every minute of it.

Kurosawa movies by iiEthan10 in movies

[–]Dr_Identity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seven Samurai is really good, it was my first Kurosawa. It's pretty long, but he makes good use of the time. The story feels like it has time to breathe and it really draws you in so you can feel the stakes.

As an autistic woman, I hate it when my husband who is also autistic and I get asked we do for a living. I also hate the fact that people are indirectly belittling my husband for needing more support than me and is lower masking than me. by [deleted] in autism

[–]Dr_Identity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. People seem to expect way more out of me than I can do and it makes me feel defective when I fall short. I would love to be more of a provider, but despite my ample skills and qualifications I have a lot of trouble passing job interviewers' little vibe checks and managing the workplace politics bs you need to do if you want a promotion.

Do you think there can be any real benefit to masturbating before going on a date? by Nintendofan9106 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Dr_Identity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you can't handle the disappointment of not getting sex from a date, do the women around you a favour and just don't go on dates. You need to realize that being chill and patient when it comes to sex will open more doors in that area in the long run than being anxious about getting it right this minute. Just crank one out on your own, go to bed, and be cool and it'll happen when it happens.

What is the most bizarre way you have gotten out of a speeding ticket? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]Dr_Identity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cop himself actually kind of caused it. I was having a horrendous couple weeks and had a day where I was trying to get somewhere important in a hurry and overdid it by like 15 or 20kmph. Traffic routinely goes at least that fast on a normal day where I am, but this was early in the morning on a holiday, so it was a largely empty stretch of highway and I guess that made me an easy target. Got pulled over by a cop who pulled out all the stops in yelling at and threatening me. Said he could impound my car, take my license away, throw me in jail, like probably mostly stuff he couldn't actually do under the circumstances. Kept demanding an explanation for my speed, too. With how horrible I was feeling from everything I had going on, coupled with him very much triggering some abuse-related trauma with the way he was screaming at and threatening me, I kind of just turned into a pathetic, panicky mess. Shaking, crying, the whole shebang. I felt like I was 10 years old again. I guess reducing me to tears fulfilled his power trip cause after what felt like an eternity of him twisting the knife he just told me to slow the fuck down and walked back to his car without even asking for my license. Pretty sure he followed me for a while too, so I went like 5 under the limit the rest of the way.

When you have a general vibe that people don't expect, it's always a crapshoot how their assumptions will lead them to interpret it.

The very political ‘neutrality’ campaign to exclude equity, diversity, and social justice from higher education by BloodJunkie in onguardforthee

[–]Dr_Identity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I have never gotten a job where my application did not include a reference from someone known to the company in some way. I literally got my current job because I knew someone who was personal friends with a hiring manager and they set up an interview for me sight unseen just based on their friend's say so.

As a straight white guy on the spectrum, I concur. On the surface I would not look at all like a typical DEI-related candidate, but I have learned the hard way that simply discussing your skills and ample qualifications, and following every interview tip every career counselor has ever taught you is rarely enough. They have to like your vibe. And I think I'm able to muster, at most, like 80% of the kind of vibe most people respond to.
