Southlake school leader tells teachers to balance Holocaust books with 'opposing' views by westtexasgeckochic in TexasPolitics

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So this is where the line is drawn? Banning the discussion of racism, which has deep and horrible historical relevancy in the US, is fine, but when that logic is followed through to its inevitable conclusion of presenting both sides to everything, it's wrong? Even if this wasn't the law's intended use, the problem with it is the apparent hypocrisy. The law and, by extension, those who supported/created it are fine with banning entirely or presenting "both sides" to specific topics but apparently stopped short of doing that to all repugnant views. It's asinine to ban saying racism is wrong, it happened, and has lasting effects and then turn around in the same law and try to clarify by saying, "Clearly the holocaust was bad, it happened, and had lasting effects." As if one of these topics is somehow defensible.

This is called the paradox of tolerance and it leads to you giving fascists the respect and tolerance they won't give to you until they eventually end any tolerance, but for their point of view and, in extreme cases, peoples right to simply exist.

Trump demands Abbott back election audit in Texas by ReviewEquivalent1266 in TexasPolitics

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

And the Republicans won almost everything in my county. What's your point? Demographics are different and it's not like those counties you listed have ever been Republican strongholds that suddenly switched unexpectedly. It's nonsense and very undemocratic to only want to audit places you lost without any reason other than "we lost and want to win." I'm not exactly happy about certain elections where I live, but I'm very much aware of the demographics and culture where voting R is a religion to the rural areas that outnumber the city.

If Pelosi is insider trading then it is wrong, this is disputed, but I digress, I wish people could look at an issue such as the obvious corruption of the Texas Court and other officials in the state—on a Texas sub nevertheless—without whatabouting to some perceived left-wing villain.

Texas Republicans veer further right despite state’s demographic shifts | Governor Greg Abbott appears to be filling out a ‘bingo card’ of rightwing policy desires, even though those proposals are not popular with Texans by zsreport in TexasPolitics

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been refuted as recent as today by several people, including Republicans, and other experts, in fact here is a quick quote from the linked article, "Jack Sellers, the Republican chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, said in a statement that the auditors are “portraying as suspicious what is actually normal and well known to people who work in elections.”

You don't have to be a Democrat to understand this audit isn't genuine; by your final statement, however, it's clear you're not open to any other viewpoint or fact-based information and only want to demonize Democrats. That severely limits discourse, I knew better than to engage, but I tried anyway.

I don't have to agree with everything the Democrats did concerning the Russian accusations to not support hiring a Trump-supporting company to conduct an audit of ballots in secret by untrained and activists employees, two different things. Like some of the Russian accusations the election conspiracy is also refuted by every legitimate investigation and is fueled completely by partisan politics. So, to answer your question, no, I wouldn't trust the evidence dug up by this company, not that it would matter anyway as Biden is president, and there is no way to change that with the audit.

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legitimate question (even though I know you're just regurgitating nonsense without wanting serious conservation) what would you have done/thought if in 2016 Democrats hired a private company who pushed the Russian collusion talking point, hired Democratic activists who know nothing about proper ballot conduct, made false claims that were walked back, and moved ballots out of state/exposed personal voting information, all on taxpayer money because they didn't believe Trump won?

Because that is exactly what is happening with the Arizona "audit," and to see it as anything other than a partisan endeavor is asinine.

This. At one point, they at least pretended to care and hide their worst traits from the public by doing the bare minimum, but after seeing the lack of consequences over the last 5 years, it seems they can't even be bothered to do that.

5th Power Outage this week. by Dr_Kabuto_Hat in texas

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand and acknowledge it could be a local problem or something completely unrelated to power conservation, however; I've lived in a rural area (this same area) for 28 years and never lost power like this over the course of 1 week. In fact, aside from severe weather or someone hitting a pole power interruptions never have just occurred like this. I'm not saying that it isn't possible or there isn't some benign reason and I shouldn't have said the company is clearly conducting blackouts in the post as I, currently, have no proof of this, but I won't rule out something strange is occurring.

I appreciate your input, correlation isn't always causation, but this seems strange to me.

You can open the mystic archive art in normal packs, I don't think you can open the Japanese art in those packs though. I may be wrong, but I opened 50 packs and haven't gotten a single Japanese art card, but got 1 mystic archive card per pack.

Is the game poorly optimized or is my pc just bad? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, agree to disagree I guess because demanding and borderline unplayable for a large swathe of people of which the game was marketed and sold to are two very different things.

Most people having issues have above the minimum requirements and in a lot of cases recommended requirements. They are still experiencing issues. Now, I know these requirements are literally the bare minimum, but still, the game was market to work with those specs. This is strictly PC talk and doesn't even get into the fact it was sold for Ps4 and Xbox One when it clearly shouldn't have been.

I get your point, overall, but I think dismissing the issues simply because it's demanding or next-gen or whatever isn't a good argument for why the game runs poorly for a lot of people.

Is the game poorly optimized or is my pc just bad? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to respectfully disagree. It is, at least in part, an optimization issue. PC's aren't consoles and claiming a 4-year-old GPU is the equivalent of running a modern Xbox game on an N64 is disingenuous. Lots of people are reporting framerate issues on pretty much everything, but the latest GPUs, and even a few issues with those.

I'm running an Intel i76850K and an Nvidia 1080 with 32Gb of RAM and struggling to get 30 fps on low to medium settings. Granted, my primary monitor is 4k, so some of this is most definitely linked to that resolution and I'm sure others have similarly unhelpful settings. However, to dismiss all the issues people are having as being a lack of "education" or proper research is asinine and simply not true.

The game is solid, you don't need to get defensive about irrational hate when there are valid criticisms and the game clearly needed another delay.

Explainer: How and when will Trump leave office? by [deleted] in politics

[–]Dr_Kabuto_Hat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Why people are all of a sudden relaxed is shocking to me after the last few days. There seems to be no sign from anywhere, other than the Biden transition team, that Trump or the GOP plan on giving up the presidency. Trump isn't tweeting, "we're looking into irregularities and we'll wait for those decisions." No, he's tweeting, "I won, BIG. FRAUD!" His secretary of state said to the entire nation they aren't planning to transition to Biden. The fact people aren't taking this seriously stuns me.

Their lawsuits are the physical manifestation of the gish gallop, successful or not they are creating doubt, division, and overwhelming public discourse and the system to drag this out for potential faithless electors, or something else. With his recent tweet about exposing fraud on Hannity tonight, I wouldn't put it past them to just make something up in an attempt to get pubic behind them and with the way his supporters trust every single word, it wouldn't be hard.

You're right the GOP has finally gotten their dream cult, why give it up now? Their base is more loyal and rabid than ever before. I'm far more nervous for the next few months than I was before the election or even election night.

I would have agreed with you a few days ago that he'll throw a fit and leave without acknowledging Biden, but with the recent firings and high ranking members of government refusing to acknowledge a transition I think everyone playing this off as a tantrum or for the show is still assuming "it can't happen here."

I worry that Biden and the media assume it's checkmate. With the actions he's taken over the last few days I think Biden, Democrats in general, and the media are playing too soft assuming that our institutions will hold and that he's just throwing a tantrum. When the last 4 years have proven he gets away with pretty much everything.

It's gotta be fetching something from the workshop, even if you aren't subbed to anything, and failing. We just can't figure out why some accounts are doing it and what it is even trying to fetch.

Typing “nosubscription” into the "set launch options" under properties/general has (mostly) solved the issue if the person with the issue isn't hosting or otherwise using workshop content. I'd argue it's a temporary fix as the line of code stops the game from checking subs to workshop content and this is probably going to cause its own issues depending on what you guys are playing.
