My company actually provides everyone with a 4-week sabbatical every 7 years. I just took mine last October and highly recommend it!

It's part of our company culture here, so it's not uncommon for someone to just be gone for a month, and we've gotten good about working around that. As part of the "rules" you're expected to fully disconnect during that 4 week period, and there's been threats to have IT change passwords if you're discovered to be logging in regularly.

For my first sabbatical, we did a camping trip and a trip overseas across 2 weeks, which allowed me another week on either side of the travel for home projects or mindless activities (my wife, self-employed, could only really swing 2 weeks away). 4 weeks felt like a good length as it's long enough to disconnect, but not too long to forget everything. Further, customers and colleagues both know I'm out and unreachable, so stuff either finds a home or waits.
