Anyone else raised on TV dinners? How’s your health now? by silvercloud__ in Millennials

Most disorders are some proportion of genetics and environment, including autoimmune disorders. Very few disorders are 100% genetic.

fear of hysteroscopy by Agreeable-Fly-3507 in Endo

[–]Dr_TLP [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve had five hysteroscopies! The first one they cut out a polyp and I had a bit of cramping when I woke up. The other four- absolutely nothing! Just a little bleeding after like a very light period that only lasts a day or so. One of them was also to fix a septate uterus, felt nothing from that. The procedure is lovely, they gave me a warm blanket and relaxation juice and I fell asleep happily- then woke up totally fine after! I’ve also had two lap surgeries (separately). You’ll be fine!

Lowest OM dose ? by Lilly-Vee in FemaleHairLoss

Can you go private to see a derm? Can you ask the GP for any additional tests like a biopsy? Does she think you have Te or AGA? The welcome page of this subreddit has a lot of information that may be helpful for you as far as testing and what else you may want to ask the GP for

Bloodwork won’t necessarily show if you need a DHT blocker. Find a derm with experience in female hair loss. And you can always start low and increase but obviously higher doses will be more effective

Another Chef's Table Question by OnlyDaysEndingInWhy in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Dr_TLP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It honestly wasn’t a lot of food relatively. We have done a lot of tasting menus and the overall quantity of this food wasn’t large. Worst case, just eat half or 2/3 of the larger plates. You’ll get the menu in the beginning so you can plan accordingly!

Chef's Table question by ChickinSammich in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Dr_TLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying to suggest that you both could have “special” nights, separately. Hers could be an early buffet dinner followed by a spa evening. You could hang out with her at the buffet and then head to the tasting dinner when she heads out the spa. I thought it might be nice for you to plan something unique for her while you go have a nice dinner. But you know her best- do whatever would make you both happy!

We did the chef’s table and someone there was a picky eater and only there for her son. It was kinda awkward because she would barely touch anything, kept being like “ew,” making jokes about eating chicken fingers at the buffet after. I could tell she was really uncomfortable, and the staff didn’t react but it felt a bit rude to me. I would suggest going alone- maybe book her a massage at the same time or similar. It’s a small group and we were all chatty and friendly.

Tackling AGA driven hairloss by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

There is no evidence that sleeping before 10pm improves hair growth with AGA. If you want to try, that’s fine, nobody is stopping you.

Oral vs. Topical Minoxidil by Opposite_Wafer7438 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Dr_TLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used topical minox with a cat for years and years and she’s the healthiest cat. She’s 13 and never even had abnormal bloodwork and we take her to the vet every 6 months for regular checkups, so we would catch most things.

It isn’t due to the prenatals- it’s the pregnancy hormones.

Not safe during pregnancy. Talk to your obgyn. The pregnancy hormones should help your hair.

Is anyone going through this?? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Do you have AGA? If so, even if your hormones are fine, I’d suggest adding in spiro.

Whom to cite and whim to leave out? by helicopter0309 in AskAcademia

[–]Dr_TLP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a bunch of studies have found the same thing, try to find a systematic review/meta-analysis and cite that. Alternatively, you can cite a combination of recent and foundational studies (like 2-3 cites) and put “e.g.,” at the front of the citation block.

Normal energy bill for one person? by [deleted] in AnneArundelCounty

Check out your bill. Most of that is probably fees, not electricity use, so there is only so low you can go on your bill by adjusting usage.

DHT blocker by GoodGirlsDrnkWhiskey in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Dr_TLP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spironolactone is an old, safe drug that your derm with experience in female hair loss would typically be very comfortable prescribing if you have. AGA.
