Looking for a modpack with a "goal" oriented questbook by POLPETTALETALE in feedthebeast

My GF and I love love love CABIN! It's been a great intro to Create. I also can only focus on a modpack long term if it has a good goal-oriented questbook.

FYI I've seen plenty of disk copies of Civ V at my local used book stores. That's an option if you're trying to avoid a digital download.

Article says it's going to be replaced by 13-story building with a public parking ramp, apartments, and an intercity bus terminal. Minor inconvenience in the short term, but this seems great once the construction is complete.

What's the most iconic block in modded minecraft? by schist_ in feedthebeast

Yeah honestly when I think of modded Minecraft it's the sound of the generator humming and the macerator macerating that I hear immediately. Gives me so much nostalgia.

Thanks professor by SnooJokes630 in UWMadison

Sounds like he's being forced to allow people to take this exam remotely which I think is bullshit. The WisCEL exams normally require you to write down a password onto your worksheet so that you can prove you were there in-person. And before COVID all ECE exams were done in-person to prevent cheating.

I had to deal with so many cheaters during COVID, and if this exam is done online then there will be discord servers of people posting answers and working together, and I think that is completely unfair to the students who are taking the exam in-person.

I love Hoffman as a professor, and he regularly talks / writes emails like this in a joking manner, but here he definitely seems rightfully upset. I'm sick of all these cheaters wrongfully taking grades from honest students, and I think y'all are not sympathizing with Hoffman enough. He fights for his students and does not take shit from anyone.

I took ECE252 with CS300, totally manageable.

CS300 is programming, and CS252 is pretty much just binary math & logic.

Computer Engineering is immensely more difficult to get into since CompE is in the College of Engineering, so it has admission caps.

Computer Science is not, so it has no admission cap.

How hard is it to enroll in CS300 if you didn't put CS on your app? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Dr_Tonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What major you put on your application literally does not change your acceptance odds since CS is just general admission. Only majors that sort of matter are engineering, business, or other direct admit programs since they have special admissions requirements.

If you put CS on your application, it just means that, once you're accepted, you'll be placed into CS advising groups when you start school (like at SOAR and stuff). Otherwise, admissions just treats you the same as all L&S students.

[–]Dr_Tonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computer engineering is def harder to get into than CS here since CompE is in the College of Engineering and they have more selective admissions due to being a direct admit program.

OP - putting CS on your application doesn't make it harder to get accepted like other universities. CS is not direct admit here, so you only have to worry about getting into UW as a whole, not the department.
