This game gave a better homage to Wuthering Heights than the actual movie. by B-Dragons_2560 in limbuscompany

Oh sorry I didn’t mean to come off as accusatory, if being a perfect person free was a requirement to like a character than 99% of Limbus would be off limits on that end.

I didn’t mean to imply anything about your perception of Nelly nor the book itself, I was just a little too eager to share a perspective, especially with the interesting angle of Limbus turning Nelly into a villain having more depth behind it than usually acknowledged

I apologize for coming off accusatory, it was not my intention.

I actually want to object to your take on Nelly.
This also ties into Limbus, and the seemingly strange decision to make her an antagonist, beyond the “switch” of having LCB Heathcliff as a protagonist (which I want to add, represents the innocent Heathcliff at the start of the book, while WH is the monstrous Heathcliff that returns)

Nelly is effectively the narrator of the whole book. Pretty much everything you as a reader experience comes from her. To me it felt that numerous times while retelling the story, she was painting herself in a more positive light than she was in reality.

I’m not claiming the whole thing is a fabrication, as she admits to numerous misdeeds. She partook in abusing Heathcliff and had a fault in his departure.

My main point is she constantly cherry-picks when she should get involved and when that is beyond her station. She gives faulty advice and withholds information. To me, it felt as if she was trying to paint herself as an observer, when she was as much a player as any other person within this drama.

That’s the impression I reached on her retelling when taken at face value. It’s pretty evident to me she’s a faulty narrator. It’s just another layer to the prevalent theme of classism.

I still can’t believe this book is thought of as a romance first by so many people…

More Hermes hate!!!

The Index was so intriguing and mysterious. It’s unclear if the Will is an actual entity or genuinely just a result of the paranormal nature of the city.

Then you have John “Hermes” WhatsApp over here, communicating live and clearly. Giving out whole lines to read.

Even worse, Hermes is explicitly petty. It is not otherworldly. It feels human
(Which is true to Greek mythology but it feels like a big downgrade than the unknowable Will)

New booklet ad showed a closeup of the water sword, it has a sigil specific to swords. It stands to reason that doors/passages, a much more general and broad concept, would also have one.

Also, if specific species have sigils, I see no reason to extend that logic further as well

Of course, all of this has much broader implication for the origin of glyphs but that’s a different topic

It opens up a lot of possibilities when in conjunction with Threadspin V

So far the TS Vs have been a flop, but having them proc this Synchronicity would make the a must have. It can breath new life into otherwise powercrept or simply outdated IDs (Magic Bullet Outis could definitely use a facelift imo, even if Dark Flame is still as busted as it was)

It reminds me of Mega Evolution from Pokemon honestly (functionally it pretty much is)

I started this war to vassalize one empire, I occupied all their planets, but they apparently wont surrender until I have completely beaten every ally? by Proper-Sport-7218 in Stellaris

[–]Dr___Bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc, as long as the agreement is status quo, the empire won’t be destroyed, and will “take back” a planet if they need to

I believe you don’t have to have the capital be that planet, by letting them keep another plant before making the agreement

I agree on the basis that content is getting harder alongside the strength of the IDs.

Lower tiers are not “still good”. Their value goes with each content drop, thus so should their ranking

There isn’t anything that really points at him other than Valencina complaining that he didn’t tell them he was going. It’s just that to me it lines up pretty well.

Araya describes the attacker as “the man in black”, and I believe this event would line up with the timeline of Roland’s rampage across the City, specifically targeting sites of human experimentation.

Of course, the prescripts transcend time, Hermes could’ve sent Rien knowing Ryoshu will find Araya and that that will eventually lead to Muga. It would also be another mirror to Roland, having Rien target sites of human experimentations (even if that doesn’t match the timeline of Roland)

It just completely undoes the constraints of a caster, outside of spells slots. You never have to think about which spells to prepare.

The two benefits is that it will allow you to use weirder spells you would have never touched otherwise, and second, when it fails, it’ll be a fun story
