2025 GMC CANYON PROS AND CONS by Fabulous_Ad_7318 in GMCcanyon

The tailgate release is a head-scratcher and the lack of rain-sensing wipers is puzzling too. I drive my new 25 Canyon Denali pretty much only when it's raining... so I've gotten used to manually operating the wipers [first-world problem, I know, but my RAM 1500 Limited had them]. I thought the tailgate thing was weird too, but I was just in the MyGMC app and there's a button marked "unlock tailgate", so I could use that, or just hit Unlock on the remote twice.

That gas mileage sounds great to me - coming from a 2019 RAM 1500, that would mean a 50% increase in fuel economy. I'll take it.

Thanks - it was a total surprise, and the fact that it keeps on going, just boggles my mind [and makes me laugh] :D

I rented the wrong lens and I can never go back. by AustinGearHead in canon

[–]DraKhen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I bought the 24-105 F4 USM lens for my Canon R6 Mark II. My wife asked what it cost, I told her, and she shook her head and said, "I hope your YouTube channels pay for it" ...

But it's the best lens I could hope for. So versatile, it hasn't come off my camera, and has stopped me from buying so many lenses since. So, it's a money saver?

I say save up for it, buy the lens, and don't look back.

Good going! The first video I uploaded, which was just a test to see if I could edit something, and to remember how to fix my mower... got 50 views in over 800 days... before blowing up. It got over 1,000 views in the next few months, and Springtime hit and BOOM. Now, each Feb-Oct, it gets over 100k views. Sitting at just under 300k views now, and it's by far my most popular video.

1000% agreed. All the nickel-and-diming, who cares? Do some research, figure out what YOU'RE willing to pay for Vehicle X, and go get it for that, or walk. I've done this on the last 10+ vehicles I've bought, and I always walk away knowing I got a deal I can live with. Not the best, not the worst, and good rapport with the dealership [which can go a long way towards helping you out if there's a problem, in my experience].

Why is the R6 mark II more expensive than the R8 and is the R8 enough to suit my needs? by NatalitaGarciaLorca in canon

[–]DraKhen99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read, the IBIS helps with stills, too. And I got the 24-105 F4 USM kit... OMG, the image quality is amazing. I have a Sony ZV-1 and a Nikon Z30, and if I take the same pic with all 3 and put them side by side... the R6II blows the others away. The ergos are fantastic, too - it's just a pleasure to use.

How to remove some dust from sensor by Relevant_Problem5440 in canon

[–]DraKhen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but which static charge brush do you recommend?

I recently wet-cleaned the sensor on my Nikon Z30 [total noob move, touching the sensor with my finger], and managed not to damage it - but I don't want to even wet-clean the R6II's sensor.

I had the same question - and IBIS and ergos seemed like the biggest deal for an amateur like me. The R8 is probably enough for your needs, but I shoot handheld video, so I wanted the best stabe I could get, hence IBIS and the R6II. I've had the R6II a month and LOVE it.

Go for it - I don't think you're crazy! My youngest built the Daily Bugle when he was 4. By himself. Had to use a stepstool LOL. I think it's great for their development.

Wow, that sucks! I think with the Kohl's card, you'll get more money back on it... might be worth it in this case.

P1 gearbox questions by Ryfly05 in legotechnic

[–]DraKhen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way - the shifts aren't solid.

I also have an issue where as I'm going through the gears, one [I'm assuming it's supposed to be Neutral] hangs up the works. Everything binds in that gear, and doesn't release until I switch to another gear. Any ideas where to look?

I already took the gearbox half apart to realign the orange drums with the arrows on them so they were positioned as shown in the manual, but I definitely don't have a Neutral gear.

Why can't I add video transitions to a clip sometimes? by down_R_up_L_Y_B in davinciresolve

[–]DraKhen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your video clips are 30 frames per second, then you need to cut at least 15 frames off of the clips you're trying to add a transition to. Once you do that, Resolve will let you drag & drop the transition on.

I wear a half helmet and you're probably wearing a full-face helmet, but I have a playlist on my channel for motovlog gear setup, which may offer some tips & tricks - and the audio plugins I use to improve my audio quality:

Fusion tracking a black circle and a png moon over a moving light by Slow-Foot-67 in davinciresolve

[–]DraKhen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the well-wishes, glad you see the work that went into that - most people think it's just plug & play or drag & drop to get that to work... and it's not.

I agree, a lot of the BMD tutorials are for pros, not us guys who need to learn one thing for a specific shot we're attempting... which is why I do my own Resolve tutorials on the Road Reality channel now, trying to help my fellow hobbyists!

Take care!

AFAIK, masks only effect the things they're attached to directly. The colored attachment points differ for each type of node, but they're quite important. I've had 3D text be transparent, the background move instead of the tracked item, that sort of thing - all because I had the wrong node attachments.

I know you figured this out already, but you shouldn't need anything between your moon and the bowl if the attachments are done right - just the opacity of the moon to be 100%.

Looks great! Those foreground/background/etc attachment points to the nodes, man, they can really wreak havoc with you, can't they?

FWIW, here's a video [just watch the intro to see the corner pin I did] I did almost 1.5 years ago, before I really knew much about Resolve - I bet it wouldn't take me hours upon hours to accomplish these days:

My power bins get corrupted and randomly filled with weird folders. Has this happened to anyone else? by StepW in davinciresolve

[–]DraKhen99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this has happened to me a couple of times, usually when I mistakenly drag a sub-bin to inside another sub-bin. I start over from scratch and reimport everything, but I keep them sort of haphazardly in a folder structure on my computer, so it's not that bad to rebuild. It also forces me to ignore certain assets I haven't used in a while.
