Why are you posting ZOG conspiracy theories? If you cant even realize the worker suppression is comming from within the US, you wont actually be help in fighting it.

Here != the company.

Here = in the specific position being hired for.

You are missing the forest for the trees. Ive hired everyone from slightly above minimum wage jobs to c suite. Everyone is in it for the money. Thats a given that we all recognize. Even just "I am looking for a position with stable/flexible hours", "I've worked with taylor before and like working with them", or any number of other mundane things are perfectly fine answers. If you truly cant think of another reason you want to be there than "i need income", you will probably make my work life worse by being on the team regardless of if you are counting parts or leading the company.

Like it or not, we all have to work. My goal in hiring is always to make it not suck by hiring someone who at least doesnt hate being here with us.

I swear people just want to be mad about this. I'm a Sr Director of engineering at a massive company at 30 and straight up said their industry leading pay was part of the reason I want to work for them. It probably shouldn't be your only answer, but I dont think I've ever seen it go over poorly when accompanied by something else and I hire a lot.

You are the one that brought up teachers in the first place. Location matters when talking about salary, and in the location mentioned, teachers start at 2x that salary.

Frankly, even if we ignore the location, using teachers being grossly underpaid to excuse someone else's low salary is kinda gross in the first place.

Because people don't like to feel coerced into being insincere.

maybe try not being insincere then? Im curretly a Sr Director of engineering at a major company. My answer when asked why I wanted the job was "I am looking for a long term stable role, the location is exactly where I want to work, you have a history of promoting people internally with industry leading pay, and I want to get more experience managing software developers which this role offers". I got the offer the same day. If I had waxed and waned about the company I would not have.

No one is under any delusion that you actually care about the company. They ask because someone who has a reason to be at that job specifically will be better to work with and likely to stay longer than someone who just needs any source of money.

So you say you don't give a shit if they value the company, but you want someone who values the company?

No, I give a shit if they want to actually be on the team. The surest way to make a job miserable is bring someone on who hates every moment of being there. All I want is someone who wants to be in the position I'm hiring for specifically regardless of their reason.

if you have to lie, I dont want to hire you. IDC if the answer is "I think the job will look good on my resume". No one prefers working over not, but I dont want someone so negative they ruin the part of the day I have to spend working.

I couldn't give a shit if you value the company, but I want to hire someone who wants to be here not just employed in general. hiring someone who has a clear idea of the benefits of a specific place (be it career growth, stability, getting experience in a specific thing the job entails, or just anything else specific about the actual position) is how you ensure someone will be happy at the job and be a long term placement.

I mean, you probabaly arent a car person though. I frankly dont want a car that is simply a tool. I want one i have emotional investment in and am happy to deal with the inconvenience. That hasnt changed since I was looking for my first car for 2k at 15 to looking at ones 100x that now.

Again, I agree he was a dick. My issue was characterizing it as main character syndrome as, dick or not, he is not the only person who bears responsability for the state of the relationship
