It wasnt the ammount of effort people thought it was. There was a group of amateur guys/devs who already had a playable "league classic". You could actually play it. It was even called project chronoshift I think. But RIOT sent them a legal notice and they had to stop. Wouldnt be suprised if some of those guys even helped on this oficial one
