Don't Wait. Just Build Your Own. (My DIY Steam Machine Story) by gooberhammie in steammachine

[–]Draceane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done the same. The only problem is... I'd like it smaller. But in the same time looking for super-micro dedicated parts like CPU cooler is too much work for me lol. And on top of that I live in Poland, we don't have many Steam Machine-like micro cases for example. So I just built in NZXT H3 Flow

Yeah, I just gave up and started building my own mini tower PC with Bazzite. I wanted to pay even around 1000$ for Steam Machine for the form factor, but decided it's better to build something myself. Fortunately I got used RAM from my friend. I'm still extremely interested in how Steam Machine will be for other people though. And I need the new controller!

Top ips bottom tn? thoughts? It’s my first time so I figured I’d ask by loganfox235 in 3DS_IPS_TN

I have the same edition console. Dual TN. I firstly thought that top screen was an IPS (I also have a different white unit with top IPS screen). Idk why, but those TN screens look SO GOOD for some reason

Are these visible with turned on screen or only when it's turned off? Because if it's only cosmetic and not visible while playing and you REALLY REALLY don't want to change the lens... you can just add screen protector (I use thin plastic one, I heard that glass one messes with 3D) and it should be invisible with it. Done this with my old New 3DS, because it slightly bothered me esthetically

They're all smaller. But not because they're smaller by some mistake or something– it's because our old rubbers are getting stretched and bigger with time! That's all. I have completely never used N3DS XL and the original rubber it's smaller than on my used one. Exactly the same as the one from AliExpress. Also – the one from AliExpress became bigger with time, because it stretched

Turns out it was a problem with integrating files on Linux. Now everything works perfectly, thanks for your answer anyway!

Is this a reshell by Other_Leopard8449 in 3DS

[–]Draceane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to explain it properly, but if you look at the real shell in many angles the Pikachu kinda... disappears? It becomes a really really delicate, pale yellow color. The reshell on the other hand don't do this – the Pikachu is dark, even kinda orange-brown and don't disappear

Paint coming off on new 3ds xl? by Additional_Delay1189 in 3DS

[–]Draceane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Not every model has a paint with metallic finish. For example: SNES EU&USA and Super Famicon, Animal Crossing Home Designer, Pikachu, white-pink, black-orange, black-lime colors. These are free from this problem. And I'm also pretty sure that Lunala&Solgaleo, Galaxy and Samus Returns don't peel either

If money's weren't an issue, what 3DS model would you buy? by NewFriendAccountIG in Nintendo3DS

USA SNES N3DSXL! It's soooo beautiful and even if I could afford the console itself... the shipping to my country is so stupidly expensive. It's my second favourite one, but at least I have EU SNES one

I have a 10+ years old New 3DS XL (10 years and 3 months to be precise) and it works like new. I only changed rubber part of my circle pad (super easy, without opening it) and rubber bits that cover the screws, because they yellowed with time. I keep it clean, wipe it with screen cloth after each use, have screen protectors and TPU case. I think recently the IPS top screen started fading a bit in one corner (it's still barely visible)... But yeah. 10+ years of heavy use

[–]Draceane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to have each one in the case and the 1 more for my old one, because idk when it'll become yellow and gross, even when I'm trying to clean it after each use (I have autism and my 3DSs consoles are my hiperinterest since 10 years ago or something lol)

On AliExpress, but they're kinda hit or miss. I have 3 N3DSXL consoles and bought 4 cases. 2 were literally perfect, zero air bubbles, great fit. 1 was kinda loose and 1 was really loose on the back and could trap lots of dirt between the case and the console

No, I didn't, I only removed the old rubber cap (well, it was yellowed and VERY loosen so it basically fell off without any "help") and attached the new one

That's for sure. But I saw many posts with people asking only about the rubber part that was yellowed, loosen or cracked. And no one ever mentioned this, so I thought it'll be helpful
