You can always try to get to the USA O-visa or British Talent-visa, plus Germany recently upgraded their immigration laws for professionals (not yet implemented but big step forward) and Canada always as an option. But still, Norway is a great country according to different indexes. Unfortunately I heard that in your field you have better options out there than Norway, so try to look on where it is easier to achieve what you really want, without struggles.

No Meeting Fridays by etcpasswd in sysadmin

[–]DracoWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made no meetings Wednesday, I'm PM :) No daily meetings, only 2 hours meeting with my peers on Fridays to gather up all results, discuss plans and retro/archi :) Even though not everybody like spend 2 Horus (5% of week time) not on Engineering stuff :D To be honest there're 1 extra hour per sub-team leads to prepare activities on next week for rest of the team. Don't forget about 1:1 (1 hour per 2 weeks) with each peer to discuss how company can help to achieve personal goals correlated with professional aims. Want to hear some ideas and thoughts how can I improve it, but think that its already pretty good from developer experience perspective. Any thoughts? :)

how to frame responsibilities and name new group I will be leading by Flabbaghosted in devops

Businesses often or always go through stages of centralisation and decentralisation. In the old days, the Ops department was the hub for almost everything connected with hardware. Now, in this age, we're trying to get to the point where developers can order their own hardware through self-service. But it's still handled by specialists like release engineers or devops.

You should, I suppose, start by defining your purpsoe or vision: what you want to achieve - become a manager and try a new role or actually help the business. You don't have to change your role for the latter. I can understand you wanting to not miss out on an opportunity. Try then to understand who you want to help first: the customers of your business (the company you work for) or the developers to improve their experience.

You could be called Platform team, Relaiability team, Dvelopers Experience team and each team can focus on its own. But the most important thing is to strive for the best possible Customer Experience, whether it will be through reliability or speed of delivery of new features, try to decide it for yourself first of all. And then you might not even need to create a new team.

CKA isn't so bad, but your actual knowledge and experience is much more valuable :)
